Bondage basics collar by Kinklab - review by married with children

Lets start with the basic's. This collar is used for light BSDM. more so for looks then anything else. You can attach a leash to the collar, but that is about it. This would make a perfect collar for costume play. The leather is died pink, front and back. I do not see the color wearing off with use. As far as the color goes, it is dead on with the picture. Its a bright pink. It is not a hot pink, but its still a color that will be hard to match with other clothing items.

This collar has a width of two inches. Not one of your cheaper skinny collars. This one has some beef to it. It is 19 inches long. You get about 6 1/2 inches of adjustment. It goes from about a 6 inch diameter to a 4 inch diameter. It should just about be a "one size fits all" collar. I have not seen too many ladies with a neck bigger then 6 inches. I am not saying they are not out there, I just haven't seen them. You should be able to buy this for your partner and not have to worry about it not fitting right.

The collar has 2 metal "brackets". One is one the end of the collar, and slips through the notches to adjust the size. The other looks to be more of a decorative feature. But could be used for a leash. The collar is compatible with the use of a padlock, or without one. To use without, there is a smaller leather strip attached to the collar on the opposite side that you pull through the ring for the padlock. This helps keep the ring from slipping through the adjustment slots, causing the collar to come free. This smaller strip is riveted onto the collar, so removing it is not an option. I do not feel it needs to be removed, I like the looks of the dual layer collar.

This comes in a clear plastic tube. The only papers included are one with a picture of a woman wearing the color (she looks to be naked, even though they do not show anything it is suggested). There is really no information of cleaning or care of the collar. Not even a sentence or two on how to use it. I expect at least a few words on care of the product, and/or proper use of said product. I guess kinklab and I do not see eye to eye on this matter. It does state that this collar will fit a 12 inch to 17 inch neck.

As far as cleaning goes, we just wipe it down with a toy cleaning cloth or baby wipe. Right now it is the toy cleaning wipes, because they are a free gift from eden with every order. When those are out it will be back to the baby wipes. Being how this is used on the neck, and not really in the general area of the action; it does not get that dirty. I can see some actions that would result in this needing to be washed, and I would not see that being a problem. If you find you need more then a quick wipe down, just make sure you pat the collar dry right away. Leather does not like to lay around damp. We store ours in the drawer next to our bed, or in the closet. Nothing special is needed to store it. You could save the packing tube it came with, and use that for storage. I see that working well. I know because I keep all the tubes from our sex toys and use them in my shop. They make great storage containers.

We purchased this collar to go with my wife's other pink items. She has a pink harness. She has a pink blindfold. She even has a pink body stocking. Even though they are all from different companies, the colors are all close enough to look like they belong together.

She likes the feel of the leather. It is not rough like a lot of other leather items we have tried in the past. Do not misunderstand, it is not some super soft leather. It is tough, and slightly rough. Just not as rough as others. The back side has some roughage to it. Not enough to cause a rug burn, but you can tell in the dark which side is the front and which is the back. I think that after some usage the leather will work itself out, and become easier to flex and softer to the touch. Most leather does. The collar is still comfortable right out of the tube. It could just use some softening up.

I see this sticking around our toy box for at least a few years. It feels like it is made of high quality materials. I know it looks and acts like it is. Overall I can not find a flaw in the item.

We still like this collar, but with the addition of the pink candy jaguar collar to our collection; this one does not get worn any longer.

Even though it does not get used any longer. It has held up nicely. We would wipe it down with a damp cloth after each use, and the leather has not broken down or wore out from the dampness. It is a good quality item, it just does not match our other gear as well as the jaguar.
