Silicone removable small ball gag - headgear by Spartacus - review by Sir

For a simple, low-priced, and well-made gag, Spartacus's Silicone Removable Ball Gag is an excellent choice. It's not intimidating for those who want something to use for a first piece, and it's also great for individuals with smaller mouths (or who want something with less strain on their jaw). Those who are new to using gags or who have a tight budget will really appreciate the quality of this ball gag. I got my ball gag in the red option (I know, how boring), but it also comes in a marbled purple.

There are three straps in total that make this ball gag. The ball itself loops through the front, snapping strap, and the others traps are for adjustment around the head. All of the straps are made with leather and, unlike the photo, there is no nylon used. This makes the gag much more comfortable once it's put on, since leather rubbing against the skin is much less irritating than nylon, especially around the mouth area. The leather is thick and taut, making it perfect for holding up to movements as well as long-lasting. It's a nice and soft leather, so there isn't really a worry about it chafing the skin, even in extended wear. It also smells good, which actually came as a surprise to me, considering the low price.

Perfectly spherical, the ball sits easily in the mouth without becoming uncomfortable. Since the ball is made of silicone, it can be sanitized as you would sanitize your toys: bleach it, put it in the dishwasher, or boil it. The red is very vibrant and intense, making it an extremely attractive piece for photographs (and just attractive in general). The contrast between red and any skin tone is so beautiful. On the front of the ball is a raised design of Spartacus's insignia, which I found to be pretty cool.

It's 1 1/2" in diameter, which might sound a bit big but is actually quite small in comparison to most gags out there. The buckle strap measures out to 8 1/2", and the adjustment strap to 11". There are eleven holes for adjustment, each spaced 1/2" apart. It can fit sizes from 15" around to about 20", which is fairly regular. If I were to wear it, I would wear it on the fifth adjustment. My play partner wore it on the seventh, I believe. Keep in mind that it probably won't be fully around the largest circumference of the head, but more so around the neck and underneath the ears.

Not only is the ball gag smaller than most, it's also great for easy-on, easy-off situations where an easy removal is necessary. The buckle is very easy to undo, and though this may seem like a bad thing to people who prefer more restraint, this is easily mitigated by tying the wearer's wrists. Where the ball gag sits is another strap of leather that loops onto the adjustment and buckle straps and has metal snaps. The snaps can be opened to remove the ball itself for easy cleaning. It can also be fully disassembled for storage, if you so desire.

This piece comes packaged in an easy-open, clear plastic case. There is a paper insert that notes that it's made of nickel-free hardware and high quality, cowhide leather, and also that the ball gag is 100%, pure silicone. It's all recyclable, so it's easy to get rid of if you don't want to keep it (I personally recycled it).

In terms of fit and how well it works, it actually performs fairly nicely. It doesn't become uncomfortable with extended wear, and though sound can of course be heard, the gag muffles it enough that every word sounds like inaudible mumbling. Drooling is minimal, which can be good or bad—some people love to see their partner drool around a gag. I personally have no particular preference either way (though drooling can be quite attractive), so I didn't miss that too much.

As for me, I actually quite like this gag. It's not too big, so it's great for the submissives I've been with who have smaller mouths, and it's also leather, so it fits my tastes as well. It got many praises from my play partner, which is always a good thing. The only thing that I'd really change about it is the buckle—I love my locking buckles. Aside from that, however, a great gag at a great price. 100% silicone and nice leather for $25? Can't get much better than that!

Something that I found quite amusing while I was cleaning the ball was that it actually bounces! But in all seriousness, this ball gag is very attractive. I like it more than I thought I would before buying it. Finding out that it was completely leather was a plus, too.
