I've only used it tied to the four corners of the bed -- which you might want to double knot, or the knot could come undone if the person tied up moves too much. The straps were strong enough to hold the person in place, yet they were gentle enough to leave no marks... as long as you don't secure it too tightly around the ankles and wrists. Even with a lot of squirming, the Velcro didn't budge.
