Right off the bat, I didn't use this as a cock ring. I bought two of the sizes as o-rings for different sized dildos in a harness. If you do buy this as a cock ring, you will want to measure the circumference of an erect penis to make sure that the metal ring will not be too constricting.

Material //
Because the chrome-plated metal is non-porous, this ring has an advantage over rubber cock rings that are porous. The silver color works with all dildo colors, including my purple Mistress. To clean, you may use one of the following methods: wipe with a 10% bleach solution; boil for a few minutes; place on the top shelf of the dishwasher; or wash with soap. This Doc Johnson metal ring also has an advantage over silicone cock rings; it is compatible with not only water-based lube, but also silicone-based and oil lubes.

However, this ring has two disadvantages. The first disadvantage is major; in no way is the metal flexible (like a silicone or rubber cock ring). If the ring is too small, it can't be stretched out; if it is too big, it will be loose. The minor disadvantage is that the metal of the ring may be cold to the touch initially. By storing at room temperature and warming it up in your hands, it won't be a problem. On a side note, I experienced no irritation from the metallic finish.


Size //
There are four options for diameter sizes: 1¼" (~4" circumference), 1½" (~5" circum.), 1¾" (~5.5" circum.), and 2" (~6" circum.). The sizes I bought were the 1¼" and the 1½". The size that worked for me was the 1½" diameter; it is close in size to a hair tie. The 1¼" size was too small for the o-ring buckles of the Minx harness to get around.

I used the 1½" ring with my Mistress dildo and didn't notice any damage. The silver color went well with my black Minx harness and held the dildo in place. I had bought the 1¼" to hold the Small Silk in my harness, but the ring was too small for the harness and too big for the dildo.

Although I no longer have the harness I originally bought the plated chrome rings for, I have kept the rings because I haven't noticed any tarnishing nor discoloration. As a bonus, I realized that you could re-purpose this product as a napkin ring.
