Harness set - harness and dildo set discontinued by Spartacus - review by She & him

We used this harness for purposes of anal penetration, but I imagine it would work just as well for vaginal - we'll provide the details on that in our update to this review. In my opinion, this harness would work quite well for beginners as it is comfortable, intuitive and easy to use, and it's a very well constructed one which will last a long time; thus, it's also ideal for people looking for a higher-end, long-term harness which looks as good as it feels and as it functions.

I also tried this on, as we attempt to do for all She & him reviews, both of us testing it out. This was one of the first harnesses that I've ever tried, and it is the most comfortable by far. Even though it's a g-string style, in that there's one strap running down between the legs, I felt free and comfortable.

From her:
This harness is made from supple leather of a medium thickness (thick enough so that it's not flimsy, and thin enough so that it's not bulky) which is smooth on the outer surface and has a softer "unfinished" quality on the inner surfaces, which makes it much more comfortable on the skin. The strap which runs between the wearer's legs is a stitched, higher quality of leather, and is softer and given a finished shine on all sides. It's definitely not waterproof, and gives off that distinct "leather" smell.

One of my most positive impressions of this harness was that it is extremely well made. The material, as mentioned, is of the highest quality, and it is held together by strategically located rivets which, unlike snaps, will never accidentally come undone during use. There are two adjustable side straps which are fitted through double D-rings, and a third strap between the legs which attaches in back through two smaller D-rings. The "business" part of the harness consists of an organically shaped piece of leather in which an O-shaped hole serves as the place through which to put a toy, and it is secured by means of another piece of leather which snaps on behind the base of the dildo with four snaps. This is perhaps the most flawed part of the design, in that it limits the types of toys that can be used with this harness to those with flat bases. I don't imagine it would be at all compatible with double-ended dildos, even if the back piece of leather were left off. The bonus to this type of harness construction is that, once in place, the dildo will not move around. We had difficulty securing all four of the snaps around the bases of the toys we tried, but it did not seem to matter whether missed one; it was still quite serviceable. The O-hole in the leather also means that this toy will not fit toys larger than 1.6 inches in girth, and would not work very well with toys smaller than that since they would tend to flop around inside the hole. Thus, this harness is really only intended for toys which fall in the 1.5ish girth range.

Although the securing hole is 1.6 inches in diameter and is fashioned out of the main front plate, the addition of the back securing leather flap means that you should be able to use a smaller diameter dildo with this harness, as long as there is a sufficiently large base to it, to ensure a good hold.

I am a size 13/14 and this harness fit me well. It was a bit snug with the first adjustment - when the leather was stiffer - but with use it quickly loosened up and now is extremely comfortable. I don't imagine it would be very friendly to users larger than a 16/18, however: there are only about 4-6 inches left free on the adjustable side straps when I wear it. Because of the ease of adjustment, I would imagine it would fit smaller uses quite well, too.

The performance of this harness was second only to a few I've ever tried - it is so comfortable to wear that it's easy to forget one is wearing a harness. There are no dangling straps, no awkward pieces that jab, no sliding around or chafing of the skin. It performs equally well in a variety of positions (we tried missionary, cowboy/girl and doggy style). Putting it on and taking it off are easy - I just release the strap between my legs and then wiggle out of it, but it could easily be removed by opening one of the side straps instead, if you prefer. The only difficult aspect, as noted, is that securing toys into the harness and, conversely, removing them, can be an involved process. However, in my opinion, the comfort and ease of use of this harness amply compensate for this minor difficulty.

I'm just going to talk about the dildo that came included with this toy: It was rubber, and while it certainly looked nice, the 'realistic' skin texture on it gave it a somewhat abrasive feel when used anally. It may well be that I'm just not used to that level of texture in an anal toy, however.

From her:
Care is one of the trickiest aspects when it comes to this set, since the harness cannot be effectively sterilized. Hence, caution should be used to ensure that lube, fluids, etc. do not come into contact with it, because wiping it down with a wet cloth is all the material permits. I use baby wipes to take care of mine, and then wipe it dry with a cloth. Special care should be taken when removing the dildo from the harness, as the circular ring in the leather which accommodates the dildo could easily become soiled if the dildo is not preliminarily cleaned before removal, especially if the dildo, as the included one in this set, is a tight fit.

As for the dildo, since it is made of rubber it should not be washed with anything corrosive, and condoms or other barriers should be used when sharing, and also to prevent the inevitable buildup of odor.
