Vac-u-lock suction cup plug - dildo harness by Doc Johnson - review by Research

The Vac-u-loc suction plug is a little item that serves a simple yet very useful service. It allows you to take your existing Vac-u-loc toys and dildos that normally must be used with the Vac-u-loc harness system and attach a suction cup to the end with a very strong and reliable mount, opening up lots of new options for your toys when you're alone. It's never fun to have a toy that has a very specific use and can't be used outside of that use. The suction cup lets you put your toys onto a table, wall, shower door, or any place with a smooth surface.

The Vac-u-loc suction cup is plan old unassuming rubber. I hear your eyebrows shooting up from here but if this were an insertable toy you would be right to doubt the wisdom of such a choice in materials. As it clearly is not, there is no need for concern. We know rubber cannot be sterilized but since no part of this item will be entering the body, there is no need for the extra cost of making it from a body safe material. As a material it is fairly stiff. It must be to hold the weight of some of the heavier Vac-u-loc toys on the market today and it releases without much trouble as well.

The curve of the suction cup is shallower than I was expecting. Rather than a deep curve in the cup to allow a solid, reliable grip the Vac-u-lock suction cup grabs the surface with a fairly anemic hold. It did a fine job holding some of my test toys straight upright but when I tried putting the Vac-u-lock suction cup against a wall or glass, some of my heavier toys were able to overcome the suction grip and succumb to gravity. I think if the suction cup had been either deeper or wider the additional gripping action would have made this a more effective item. As for the rest, there are several ridges along the shaft of the suction cup that are inserted into the base of your toy of choice to hold it steady. Beware, the Doc Johnson powdered lubricant that comes with most Vac-u-lock systems is not included with this suction cup. You'll either need to get some or have very strong hands to install this in a toy dry.

The entire item is a little over 3 inches tall. When inserted into the base of a toy it pretty much disappears aside from a bit of the suction cup on the bottom. Fit is not an issue thank goodness, since this suction cup is part of a system we know it will fit everything in that system. All Vac-u-lock toys use the same length and diameter plugs to hold them to the various accessories. The harness systems, the plug with snaps, the suction cup, and the bouncy ball all share identical attachment plugs so you know you won't have to buy several different sizes like you would with the ring harness system. Make sure you get your hands on some of that talc powdered lubricant though, I've tried putting several Vac-u-lock toys onto various Vac-u-lock plugs and it is incredibly difficult without some kind of lube.

I have a variety of Vac-u-lock toys ranging in size from a tiny little UR3 dong all the way up to the Hung dildo and I tried each of them out with this suction cup on different surfaces. With the softer toys I was able to force the suction cup into the base with nothing but determination but some of the stiffer toys such as the Hung necessitated using the powdered lubricant. Remember, just because you manage to cram that thing into your toy, you still have to get it back out. Once in place the suction cup was secure. Say what you will about the Vac-u-lock system, they sure know how to make a solid mount. I went on to try the suction against different surfaces to see how long it would hold. Smoother is better of course, the best results came from glass and polished granite. All the toys did better standing straight up than dangling from a wall, though some did better than others. I found the longer the toy, the more likely it was to slowly lean to one side until it overcame the suction and toppled over.

For the safety of your toys I recommend you don't store the Vac-u-lock suction cup inside the base of a toy. It's fine to put it in there when you play but extended wear might stretch the Vac-u-lock hole. After a while you might find it's not as tight a fit as it used to be and now it doesn't hold well. For cleaning just wipe it down with soapy water or an antibacterial wipe. Even though it's not made of a body safe material, it's unlikely the suction cup will be exposed to anything dangerous.

The Vac-u-lock suction cup comes in a simple cardboard box with an image of the product on the outside. Inside the box you find the suction cup wrapped in plastic alongside a folded Vac-u-lock product guide. While the guide states quite firmly that you must use powdered lubricant with your Vac-u-lock toys, none is included in the box.
