Elements Theta - strap-on dildo discontinued by Tantus - review by Chirple

The Tantus Elements Theta is a 100% silicone dildo that can be used alone or with a harness. It can be used vaginally and the ample flare at the base makes it very safe for anal use as well. This toy is great for solo or partner play, especially if you're looking for a small, abstract toy that's not at all threatening.

The Theta comes with a waterproof bullet that can be used inside the toy or alone. The bullet has moderately strong vibrations for clitoral use, but should not be inserted anally due to the small size and ease of getting sucked in and "lost".

The Theta is made of pure 100% silicone that is latex and phthalates free and it is odorless and tasteless. The silicone is squishy and bendy - this is not a rigid toy, but it keeps its shape when held horizontally or in a harness and will not flop around.



It feels soft and plush and not at all rubbery. There's a moderate amount of drag, my finger meets resistance, but doesn't "catch" on it when I stroke it. It's a bit of a lint magnet, but not the worst I've had. There is no smell or taste.

The Theta also comes with a small bullet that can inserted into the hole on the bottom of its base:



The bullet is standard size and reaches about an inch and a half into the shaft of the Theta. The location allows vibrations to be conducted not only through the shaft of the toy to the tip, but very nicely through the base as well, which is good for sharing with a partner. When inside of the toy, the bullet's cap sticks out completely. Depending on your harness, this might line up well or be uncomfortable.

If you use any bullet with this toy, make sure to dab a drop of lubricant on it before putting it in. Failing to do so will leave you struggling and with sore fingers!

The Theta is abstract, artistic and looks like an unearthly flower in bud state. The toy has a large base with light ribs placed for possible clitoral stimulation for the receiver. It's cute and not intimidating. It would be a great choice for couples looking for a small starter toy for strap-on play or anyone who wants a soft, non-realistic dildo.

The Theta is about 6.25" long, including the base. The insertable length is about 5.75" to the base, although the toy widens a bit at this point, so you're looking at 5" before the widening starts to reach maximum girth. The bulb itself is about 1" wide, narrowing to a .5" neck. The main shaft is about 1" wide, and widens to about 1.5" right near the base. The base itself is 3.5" top to bottom and about 2 and 3/8 inches wide.



The top of the base curves out a bit to better reach the clitoral area during partner play and there are five shallow ridges for added stimulation.



The bottom of the base has the Tantus logo with their web address under it. This is very discreet and I didn't even notice it for quite some time!

The base is wonderful and stable for harness use. The rounded shape at the top makes it especially comfortable to grip during solo play.

The Theta is abstract, but still has a sensual look to it and isn't very discreet in that its use could likely be guessed by even the uninitiated. However, it's certainly less in-your-face than a hyper-realistic toy. The small size is good for travel, though the base makes it unsuitable for a smaller purse. It fits nicely into a larger sandwich bag for easy storage.

The tip on the Theta is very nicely tapered for easy insertion. If you've never had penetrative sex and still have a thick hymen, you might experience some resistance and stretching, but the shape of this toy makes it much easier to slide in than a more abruptly rounded tip. I highly recommend it for anyone new to insertable toys, vaginal or anal.

The head narrows to the main shaft of the toy abruptly, giving you a nice bulb that is satisfying to pull in and out. I have not tried it as such, but with the popularity of beads and bubbles, I imagine this would be very nice for anal use as well. The toy is on the shorter side, and is not ideal for very energetic thrusting, although with the right rhythm and intensity, the bulb helps keep it inside instead of just sliding completely out.

Since the Theta is very flexible, you're not going to get much in the way of pressure for g- or p-spot play, and I can't recommend the Theta to more experienced users who are looking for that in a toy.

The large base of the toy makes it very easy to use in a harness, just remember that the bullet sticks out, so if you're using it, the harness needs to sit rather low-down, in a "natural" position, instead of having the bullet poking into your belly or pubic mound. The base has small ribs for gentle stimulation of the receiver. These are not noteworthy during solo use, but better if you have someone pressing down above you.

The bullet that comes with the Theta is of decent quality. It came to me a little scuffed up already and the button is picky about being pushed just so, but it's not as bad as some I've used. It's fairly quiet (I'd give it two bees) and its one setting is fairly strong at about 3 vrooms. The vibrations are pleasant and not terribly buzzy. When inserted in the dildo, the vibrations are strongest in the base, but I can feel them on the body as well at about 1-2 vrooms. It's pleasant and fun, but not mind-blowing.

Since the Theta is a silicone toy, it should not be used with silicone lubricants, as they can bond together and degrade the toy so that it appears that material is melting off the toy. Not good! Use a water-based lubricant with the Theta to keep everyone wet and happy.

The bullet takes 3 watch batteries, and comes loaded with them and ready to use.

Being 100% silicone, the Theta is super easy to clean and care for and you have many options for doing so. You can use soap and water on the toy, and without the bullet inserted, can easily do so under a faucet. A 10% bleach solution can also be used as long as you're sure to rinse it all off before your next use. The toy can also be boiled in water since silicone will not melt at the boiling point of water! You can also put it in the dishwasher to clean, and toy wipes are always a handy solution to keeping everything tidy.

The bullet is easy to clean, but should not be put in a dishwater or boiled. It's waterproof, but I wouldn't put it to too much of a test. You can use soap and water or a bleach solution, just let it dry off well before turning it on again. Toy wipes are ideal.

Remember not to use this toy in another orifice after anal play without a good cleaning. Using it anal to vaginal can result in unwanted health complications. A good clean is also necessary if sharing between users.

This toy doesn't come with its own storage, so that's up to you. You can keep it in the box it comes with, though that's a little bulky. You can put it in a sandwich bag or a toy bag, or even a sock. Just keep it cool, dry, away from sunlight, and away from touching other toys. Silicone is a strong material, but make sure to keep away from sharp edges as it can rip if sliced.

Nope! Not discreet! The packaging is clear and you have a good view of the toy from the front and sides. The packaging is minimal, consisting of an outer box and an internal clamshell. It's easy to open, nothing that requires scissors or frustration.

The box has various blurbs upon it and extols the quality and safety of the material and design, and a designation on the bottom of the box lets you know you can recycle it (yey!) if you so choose.

The packaging isn't elegant gift-box pretty, but it's attractive and functional. The box covers some methods of cleaning, but leaves the user largely on their own about care.

I'm so glad I got this toy. My previous experiences with trying to use insertable toys has been painful and rather impossible. This is the first toy I was actually able to insert. It was a bit uncomfortable to do so the first few times. I could feel stretching, but the shape of the Theta's bulb makes it ideal for a "first time" toy to gently ease in, making the discomfort as minimal as possible.

I used my We Vibe Tango in the bullet slot, and it was a good bit stronger and better felt along the whole toy. However, since the Tango is longer than a standard bullet, it's going to stick out even more than the one the Theta comes with already does.

This toy was too soft to find my g-spot, but without it, I never would be been able to handle a toy that could. This was a great first step and I look forward to using it in a harness.

I've always been a little afraid and hesitant to try out anal play, but when I'm ready I think this will be a great toy to start out with. The shape is just so perfect for easing in and you can use as much or little of the shaft as you're comfortable with.
