Cobalt wand - glass wands discontinued by Pyrexions - review by ToyGeek

The Cobalt Wand is a straight glass dildo with one textured end, and one round bulbous end. The one I received is significantly pointier than the one pictured, but is otherwise the same size and shape. This difference between individual toys proves that the wands are hand blown, and each one will be unique.

Glass is a fantastic material for sex toys, as it's a top choice for safety. Phthalates free, latex free, non-porous, odorless, and easy to sterilize, glass is a body friendly material that should last a lifetime. Pyrex glass will not shatter in the event of a tragedy, but instead will break into chunks, and then only if dropped on a hard surface at just the right angle. The human body is not strong enough to break a glass toy during play.

Like all glass toys, the Cobalt Wand works quite well for temperature play, and the textured end works well for external stimulation, while the round end can be used for g-spot stimulation provided your internal anatomy doesn't require something with more of a curve to it. The Cobalt Wand is a good choice for gentle partner play, since it's on the smaller side, but just remember to always take extra care when using any firm material for thrusting, especially when getting to know a new toy.

Since it lacks a true flared based, the Cobalt Wand is not the best choice for anal play.

Glass is very easy to clean in a variety of ways. For regular cleaning, it can be washed in either hot soapy water or with toy cleaner. When washing in a sink, it's helpful to lay down a hand towel as padding, lest you drop an expensive toy. Remember, the glass used for sex toys won't shatter, but a fall at the right angle onto a hard surface could break it in two.

Immediately before use, a glass toy can be wiped with a baby wipe or soft cloth to insure it has not become contaminated by lint or other particles during storage. When sterilization is necessary, glass can be boiled, wiped down with a 10% bleach solution, or run through the top rack of the dishwasher, sans detergent. Always be sure to thoroughly rinse away harsher cleaning agents, such as bleach solution, before use to avoid irritating your skin.

My Cobalt Wand came packaged in a long white jewelry box, which I found more useful for wrapping an unrelated Christmas gift than for longterm storage. I keep mine in one of Eden's purple toy bags.

Since this product is not available at the time of this review, I have added several choices that perform one or more similar functions to the comparison section below.

For internal stimulation, I found that the Cobalt Wand felt similar to the Icicles 17 only somewhat more difficult to use solo, since it lacked a curve. I'd recommend it, or wands like it, only to women who can successfully stimulate their g-spots with straighter toys, or who like the stimulation from something brushing past the spot, instead of applying prolonged pressure directly to it.

As for the other end, I was annoyed that my particular model had a pointy tip, making it less than ideal for external stimulation. It still felt great, but it required a little extra caution to avoid interrupting the fun with an unpleasant poke.

The best use I found for the Cobalt Wand was to exercise the kegel muscles. Both the straight shape and the modest size make it well suited to the task.
