Spotting the Maia Dong on site for the first time, its pronounced head and ribbed texture were enough to instantly grab my attention and earn its place on my ‘must try’ list, it featuring a suction cup was a major added bonus too so it wasn’t long before I had it on the way to test.


Packaging:

Available in Blue or Purple; the purple Maia Dong arrives in matching packaging with white and purple panels. The overall feel of the packaging is simple, non seedy and cheerful. A panel at the front of the box opens to reveal a view of the toy itself behind clear plastic. The top of the box features a hygiene stickers which ensures your Maia Dong arrives untouched.




It Reads “If seal is broken, do not accept this product”

It’s refreshing to see attention paid to hygiene and ensuring that a product arrives new and unopened.

But it also has the usual phrase of

“For novelty use only”

One of the side panels of the box describes the dong as being made of soft touch silicone which is 100% medical grade.




First Impression:

Removing the Maia Dong from it sturdy packaging, the first thing I noticed was its larger size. Reading the measurements on site I had expected it to be smaller or at least slimmer than it appeared to be in person. With contradicting page listing the dong as being 1 ½ inches in diameter and 6 inches in circumference; I was quick to measure its girth for myself and the larger circumference measurements of 6 inches and much closer to its girth than the more modest 1 ½ inch diameter listed.

The second thing I noticed about the Maia Dong was its particularly firm build. With alot of silicone toys in my collection I can say that this is easily one of the firmest silicone toys I have felt. To the squeeze, it has very little give and when trying to bend it is equally resistant. This is definitely not a toy that will adapt to your bodies curves or bend with you during use.

The finish of the silicone is luxurious and soft as promised on its packaging, with a smooth velvet feel and matt appearance. An image on the Maias packaging shows the dong as being a deeper metallic purple with a shiny finish but it actually has a much lighter coloring and matt finish.

At the bottom of the dong, the shallow suction cup features the brands name (it’s nice to see a brand name stamped somewhere where it will not interfere with use, chaff or making cleaning difficult)

In Use/ Experience:

With a 5 ½ inch circumference at the head and very solid build, I usually find that a warm up toy is needed before attempting the Maia Dong. With a pronounced ridge at the head and a velvet finish too; a generous amount of lube comes in handy.

On insertion, the heavy texture of the dong is felt from the start with the particularly raised head then meeting with a serious of generously raised ribs along the shaft. The solid silicone and generous girth mean that even with a warm up first it can take a few thrusts before the Maia Dong even starts to feel comfortable and manageable.

After a few minutes of thrusting the heavily ribbed shaft proves to be quite stimulating as each rib massages the walls of the vagina as the pronounced head applies extra pressure to the front wall. As intense as this front pressure is, it is not curved or raised enough to provide any real level of G-spot stimulation even with angling.

Gripping the flat but widely flared base of the toy is easy and makes thrusting the surprisingly weighty toy easier than you’d expect. The flexibility of the thin base meaning it can fit in one hand. The flared base also makes it suitable for use with a strap-on harness and I find it can squeeze into an average 1.5 inch O-ring with relative ease.

This flare also makes it safe for anal use if you are up to its solid feel and intense texture aswell as its girthy size. Used vaginally I found that regular reapplications of water based lube were a must so anally I would recommend having lots of lube to hand.

Another thing I love about the base of this is how it features a shallow looking but highly functional suction cup which for us has proven that it works well on furniture like chairs and coffee tables aswell as in the bath and on bathroom tiles.

Material/ Care:

Made of medical grade silicone, the Maia Dong is non-porous, hypo-allergenic and easy to clean. It is free from both latex and phthalates can even be sterilised after use. To sterilise, it can be boiled in a saucepan for 3 minutes or for a regular wash it can be cleaned with warm water and a mild soap. Alternatively specialised toy wash or wipes can be used.

Despite it obvious heavy texturing, it is easy to clean between each of the shafts ribs as they are spaced out wide enough with a gradual curve between each. The thoughtfully placed brand name and logo at the base of the dong mean it won’t get in the way of cleaning either.

I use a water based lubricant with the Maia Dong and would recommend always having lube at hand when attempting the dong as its velvet touch finish and texture make it require some reapplications of lube during play.

For storage; a bright and colourful matching drawstring bag has been provided. The storage bag is cheerful with its matching colour making a nice difference from the usual black or neutral colours that you usually get. The material of the bag has some stretch to it rather than being the usual satin.
