Black Magic Vibrator - Provided Me With Many Magical Moments

Black Magic is exactly what comes to mind when you hear the phrase “traditional vibrator.” Despite the very inexpensive price tag, Black Magic is not a “cheap” vibrator. In this case you definitely get more than what you pay for. It has a smooth exterior and the velvet plastic material softens the feel of the hard plastic. The material does not feel cheap and the motor is not cheap either. The vibrations are much stronger than I expected based on the price of the toy, but they are still only feel like a medium setting.

My Black Magic vibrator is much more powerful than I expected. This vibrator hits a 3 vroom when used internally, but it really takes a 5 vroom toy to push me over the edge into an orgasm when used. The primary problem with the vibrations is that they don't travel well through the length of the vibrator and, as such, can only be felt in a limited area. So to say it short and sweet, this vibrator is far better than many more expensive vibrators, just not enough to send most into an orgasm. It is, however, perfect for clitoral stimulation. The Black Magic has a pointed tip that easily pinpoints your clitoris. In addition, the vibrations are concentrated in the tip of the vibrator which makes the 3 vrooms feel more like a 4 vrooms. The more focused vibrations in the tip and enough for me to reach orgasm when used for clitoral stimulation.

Black Magic is a plastic vibrator. This vibrator also has "Velvet Touch" coating. It wont come off, as it is made of a plastic as well, but it is a coating and is not actually the plastic itself. The "Velvet Touch" coating provides a soft and smooth feel that tempers the hardness of the plastic. Aside from the velvety feel there is no other texture to the toy; it really is as smooth as it looks in the picture. The silky exterior allows the vibrator to glide smoothly along dry skin without any drag.

Plastic is a non-porous and phthalate-free material. Since the Black Magic is plastic you can use water, oil, or silicone lubricants. I often have no trouble using this toy without lubricant because of its smooth texture, but you will still want to use lubricant if you have any trouble with natural lubrication. I didn't notice any unusual tastes or odors after opening the product.

Black Magic is the ideal traditional vibrator. It has the classic long, smooth shape of a traditional vibrator with the added bonus of the pointed tip to make stimulation even better. Black Magic is fairly lengthy vibrator; it measures at about seven inches in length. However, only about six inches of it can be inserted because the bottom of the vibrator is the combination dial and battery cap. Despite its lengthy stature, Black Magic is more than a little lacking the girth department for those who prefer toys that make them feel full. It has a diameter of about one inch, which makes it one of the slimmer vibrators on the market. I am not one of those people who need a vibrator with a large girth so I enjoyed the slimness of Black Magic. Even though the slimness of Black Magic may turn off some suitors, its design has the ability to please everyone. Everyone can appreciate the pinpoint stimulation provided by the pointed tip.

As evidenced by the name, Black Magic is in fact black in color. I thought the black was going to be boring and dull, but I was wrong as usual. The black color and the traditional shape give this vibrator a classy and elegant look. Doc Johnson did a fantastic job combining a classic shape with classic black to make a simply beautiful vibrator.

One of my favorite things about Black Magic is that it comes with a removable sleeve for the batteries. I’m one of those people that like to remove the batteries after every single use and this sleeve makes my life easier. Just place the two AA batteries into the sleeve on first use and slide the sleeve into the vibrator. When you are finished just slide the sleeve out. You don’t have to struggle with the process of inserting and removing the batteries after every use.






A dial at the base controls the Black Magic vibrator. The dial is one of the few complaints I have about this vibrator because it is actually really difficult to use. I have had a very difficult time getting the dial to turn using just one hand and it does not get easier over time. The dial also doubles as the battery cap, and unlike the dial controls, the cap is very easy to twist on an off when inserting or removing the batteries.



Black Magic provides a range of steady vibrations from low to high. The vibrations are focused in the tip of the vibrator and at lower settings the vibrations cannot be felt well lower in the shaft of the toy. Although the vibrations are not the strongest, other reviewers have described them as deep vibrations that can be felt while thrusting and I have to agree with that description. The vibrations aren’t incredibly strong, but they are still very effective when inserted.

Black Magic is a very quiet toy. I require silent toys because of my living situation and always test the volume before putting a toy to use. Black Magic can be heard under the cover if you are in the same room or if you leave your door open, but behind closed doors the vibrations cannot be heard at all.

Black Magic is waterproof and has held up very well so far. I have only used it in water a few times, but I have fully submersed it in the bathtub and I have taken it in the shower without any damage to its internal mechanisms.

Black Magic, like most plastic toys, is an extremely low maintenance toy and it is really easy to care for. Since it is a plastic material it is very easy to clean as you can use antibacterial soap and hot water to clean it or wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol. My preference is to clean it with anti-bacterial soap and warm water when I can, especially if I am using lubricant with it, because I think it provides a more thorough cleaning. If my flatmates are home I use a toy cleaner just to wipe it down as soon as I'm finished, but I find that it is not sufficient to get the lubricant fully out of the Velvet Touch coat. I definitely recommend a more thorough scrubbing if you are using a lubricant to ensure that there isn't any residue left behind.

Black Magic can be stored in its original plastic packaging, but be warned it is not very sturdy. I currently store it in its original box, but I did some structural damage to the box when I stored some other items on top of it. If you want to use the original packaging for storage, be sure you don't put anything on top of the box and it will hold up nicely. My next step is to store the Black Magic in a plastic bag and hide it away in an unused makeup bag I have. You can also invest in toy pouches, a storage pillow, or a toy box to store your Black Magic.

The packaging of the vibrator was nothing fancy. Black Magic came in a deep purple/maroonish plastic box, which is recyclable. The colors were very attractive, but the box is not completely discreet. You can see the vibrator through the clear plastic in the front of the box. I still store Black Magic in the original packaging because I don’t have to worry about someone finding it in my locked box, but I do have a problem with the durability of the box. The box is not sturdy so be sure to store it on top of other items; I made the mistake of putting other items on top of it and did some damage to the box.

The packaging did not come with any instructions. The package did contain a very brief description of the Black Magic, a disclaimer not to use the product on swollen or inflamed areas nor on skin lacerations to avoid injury, and graphics indicating that it is multi-speed, made with Velvet Touch, waterproof, and phthalate-free. The only thing on the package that even remotely resembled instructions was a graphic of the battery cap with arrows which reads "Close Cap Tightly."

I do a lot of airplane travel so I tend to look for discreet items I can put in my carry-on bag and not something as obvious as the Black Magic, but surprisingly the Black Magic is discreet enough to get past the TSA. I didn't even realize it was in my bag, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it had made it though security without a second look when I got to my destination. It has now become my new stand-by travel vibrator because of it's ability sneak past airport security and it won't break the bank if it ever is confiscated.

Although I am in process of working my way up to bigger things, I currently lean towards slimmer toys. I was drawn to Black Magic because of its size and its very low price and I was not disappointed. Black Magic is a perfect beginner toy. Despite being inexpensive it still has an elegant look and it performs like a vibrator in a higher price range.

I found this vibrator to be extremely effective, especially for clitoral stimulation. With the pointed tip combined with vibrations focused in the top of the shaft made it much easier for me to achieve clitoral orgasms. I only bought this as an inexpensive stepping stone to bigger and better things, but I have gotten much more use out of it than I expected.
