Rockstar vibes Joni - traditional vibrator by Doc Johnson - review by Breas

The Rockstar Joni vibrator by Doc Johnson arrived in a plastic, rectangular package.The front of the packaging states the product name, brand, and a few of the features of the vibrator. On the front of the packaging, you can see the vibrator through the plastic. The back of the packaging has the same information as the front, along with a brief description of the product, company contact information, and some less relevant text. The entire packaging has tattoo-styled artwork. The features that the packaging boasts of are: velvet touch, waterproof, smaller size, 3-speed push control, powerful, targeted stimulation, silent vibration, and phthalate free body safe material. Below is a photo of both the front and the back of the packaging.



The vibrator is made of plastic, but is very soft like velvet to the touch. When rubbing the vibrator against the skin on my arm, there was no drag to it. However, when I used the vibrator down below, there was a bit of drag both internally and externally. With the plastic material, you can use silicone or water based lubricant to prevent the drag.

The Joni vibrator is available in colours black or teal. I received the black coloured vibe. There are ridges in the vibrator that create a bulb-like top. There are two rows of silver, metal studs approximately ½ an inch down the last “bulb”. Below the studs is the battery compartment.



The measurements of the vibrator are as follows:

Length: 5 ½ inches
Insertable length: 3 ½ inches
Circumference: 4 ¾ inches
Diameter: 1 ¼ inches
First bulb: 2 inches length
Middle: 1 inch
Bottom: 2 ½ inches

The vibrator requires 3x AAA batteries, which are not included. There is a twist and lock style cap on the bottom of the vibrator which opens to get to the battery compartment. The bottom of the vibrator, below the studs is the part that twists open. There is a thick, clear, plastic O-ring in the battery compartment to prevent water getting into the battery compartment. I did not submerge the toy in water, but when I had cleaned the toy, no water got into the compartment.

There is no manual or instruction paper for battery insertion, but it is quite simple to figure out. The first time I inserted the batteries, I actually inserted them backwards. What was odd about this is that even with the batteries inserted the opposite way, the vibrator still turned on. If you’ve inserted the batteries the wrong way, the vibrator will turn on, but it will not change speeds. At first I had assumed that the product was defective, but after turning the batteries around, I realized it was my mistake. There is a plastic stem inside the cap that needs to be aligned with the hole in the compartment to close the cap.



To operate the vibrator, you use the push button control located on the very bottom of the vibrator. There is only the one button. To turn the vibrator on, you press the button once and the vibe will be on the lowest speed setting. Press the button again to turn the vibrator speed from low to medium, and again for the medium to high speed. To turn the vibrator off, you press the button once more.



The vibrations are deep, rumbly, and on the highest speed setting, they are quite strong. The vibrations travel through the entire vibrator, but they seemed to be the strongest on the top bulb of the vibe. I need quite a bit of power when I use vibrators, and I found the strongest setting to be satisfying. I used the vibe both internally and externally. Though the vibrations are strong, the vibrator is very quiet. It cannot be heard through a closed door even on the strongest speed.

When I used the vibe internally, it did feel nice but the insertable length is quite short (see measurements above). The ridges can be felt when inserted, but it was not uncomfortable. The vibrator can be inserted past the metal studs, but it’s not recommended because you may end up losing a grip of the bottom of the vibrator. The vibrator should not be used anally because there is no flared base on the toy. I will probably not use the vibrator internally anymore because I have other toys that are a better length for me.

When I used the vibrator for clitoral stimulation, I enjoyed it because it had the strength that I needed. I enjoyed using the vibrator externally and will continue to use the vibe for clitoral stimulation.

It's very simple to clean the vibrator; just use soap and water. You can also use a toy cleaner. If you decide to share the vibe, use condoms every time.

Overall I give the Rockstar Joni vibrator a 4 out of 5. The reason that the product loses a star is because of the insertable length, which did nothing for me when used internally. I think this vibrator would be great for beginners because it is not too girthy, and on the lower speed setting, it is not too intense. I also think it would be a great addition to any collection for the more advanced toy users as well.

Joni was a great vibe but I recently got rid of her. While she was excellent when it came to power, I found that I was reaching for my other strong toys much more than her. I would still recommend Joni to both beginners and advanced users alike.
