More of a prep than a rocker

This toy seems to me to be something for those who don't want to go for something crazy, loud, or powerful. The mild vibrations and low sound make it nice and good for living with others, but I feel like those who need more oomph need to look elsewhere. This toy would be a great introduction to toys if you don't want something too 'intense,' and for the price it's a great quality.

Use

This 'traditional' style toy is a design that has been around for a long while because it's fairly functional. A lot of people can find great ways to use it, and it's a great way to start exploring yourself sexually.

Inserted, this is just thin enough to feel like you're being filled but not thick enough to feel 'stretched.' It's not the best toy to use if you want a lot of g-spot stimulation, but you may be able to find your g-spot with this depending on how you're build down there.

This can also be used for external stimulation. It's got a fairly pointy tip for pinpoint stimulation, but it's also a good girth and width if you want to lay it over your vulva and clitoris for more broad stimulation. It's a great little toy for stimulation other erogenous zones you may have, as well, but it isn't too hot for back massages.

While I've heard of plenty of people being fine using a toy like this anally, I still wouldn't recommend it. It has no flared base or real 'handle,' so there is definitely a possibility of it becoming lost inside you. I don't want anyone complaining that this toy caused them an ER trip, so you may want to look elsewhere for an anal vibrator.

If you're looking to introduce toys into a relationship without breaking the bank, this would be a good option. While it may be a bit pointy while thrusting, with good communication it would be a better choice than something more curved.

This toy passes Ryu's dorm seal of approval. It's waterproof and not very loud, and it's also easy to care for and stash into a drawer. I would recommend this for those in similar living conditions as I am in.

Material / Texture

This toy is made entirely of smooth, firm plastic. Plastic is rated an 8 out of 10 on the Eden safety scale because it is nonporous and body safe. Along with normal upkeep, you can also disinfect it with a 10% bleach solution. I would recommend doing this every time you switch users (or orifices, if you want to chance it.)

The smooth plastic itself has very little drag to it at all. It does have a bit of a velvety coat on it, but this mainly just makes it feel softer in your hands and doesn't change the use very much at all. No part of this toy has any give to it at all.

Being so smooth, this traditional vibrator needs little or no lube at all to use. This is great if you're traveling and don't want to worry about bringing extra baggage. If you like things extra slick you still may want to use some, but I feel like most people will be able to get away without needing any. You may need to be careful not to lube this up too much, though, because it does tend to get a little bit slippery and it may get hard to turn off.

Overall, plastic is a great material for both beginners and advanced users. It's less forgiving than softer materials like silicone and jelly, but if you go slowly it's a great material to use. If you care for it well, it will last a very long time and it shouldn't stain.

Design / Shape / Size

Being 'torpedo' shaped and straight, this is considered a 'traditional' vibrator. It's long and slim and seems to be a favorite of many users across the board. I personally like this design because it isn't too large and often I complain about toys being too girthy for me.

In total it's about 7 inches long, with 6 of those being insertable. It's also 3.25 inches around, making this much thinner than the average penis but still girthy enough to be good for thrusting. It's a size that will be good for beginners or those who know they like something with these dimensions, but size queens and those who like to feel 'stretched' should look elsewhere.

Another thing to note about traditional style vibes is that they are a straight cylinder that tapers a tiny bit at the tip. It's a shape that will fit everyone but it may not be able to reach the g-spots of the masses. It has no curve or swell to it at all, but I find that it's okay (not great) at g-spotting.

If someone saw this out they would certainly know what it is, so you may want to keep this out of sight. It's easy to toss into a drawer because of the small size and material, which is a plus in my book.

I think that the design would make this great for users across the board. Beginners will appreciate it's simplicity, and if you like toys like this you will most likely like this one, too. On the other hand, users that like large or curved toys may find themselves reaching for something more specialized.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This toy is controlled by an easy-to-use turn dial base. Around the turn dial portion of it there is a slight grooving (like the side of a quarter, but more prominent.) It's also very easy to twist so you don't end up with one of my favorite mood killers: unscrewing the batteries while trying to change the settings.

The power goes up very consistently from turning the dial and it feels very well made. Often you will either end up with the power being super wavery when you turn a toy up or you end up with it making 'spring-y' noises when you twist the controls. This does neither, which tips me off to the quality for the price I paid.

The vibrations are located in the shaft of the toy close to the tip, but they carry down well to the middle of the shaft. This is nice because when inserted you can feel the vibrations through out the entire toy. Clamping down or holding this toy doesn't dampen the vibrations at all (something I hated about the other toy by this brand I have.)

On high this toy is about 2 vrooms and 2 bees. It's fairly quiet and in no way will be heard over the shower or the radio, but it's still slightly detectable when placed underneath a blanket. The power levels in this toy may disappoint users who need a lot of oomph, but as a sensitive user myself I didn't mind the mild vibrations.

Because this toy is cheap and I like to play in the shower, I figured that I may as well try it in the shower; after using in the shower I found no water inside this toy, so I consider this one to be 'splash proof." I don't recdommend submerging into the bath for a long time, but using it in the shower seems to be a-okay.

Overall, I think that the easy controls and the low noise level will appeal to all users, but that the mild vibrations would be best for someone who wants to start with something low powered, or for those of us sensitive users who know that they like weaker toys.

Care and Maintenance

This toy gets a 10 in my book for being easy to care for. I wash my toys with an antibacterial toy cleaner, but using soap and water is also great. You also can wipe this down with a toy wipe if you are on the go. In order to disinfect this you can also wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution. There aren't any places on this toy that are hard to get at or clean.

Plastic is compatible with all other toy materials and all types of lubes. This is always convenient because you can store it in contact with your other toys and that you don't have to worry if your favorite lube will ruin your new toy. I keep this in a cool, dark place with the rest of my toys.

Packaging

This toy comes in very eh... Minimalist packaging. For the price and quality, however, I really don't feel like it's my place to complain. When you receive your Rocker 7 it is in a small plastic pack. It's flat and 3 dimensional on the bottom, but the top is sealed flat. Fortunately the bag has a small, ziplock-baggie like top if you decide to keep your toy in here.

There were additional instructions included, but they seem to mainly focus on the batteries and how to insert them. The package itself has minimal information, but it does tell you that using this toy burns 65 calories an hour. It's a great package if you want to reduce waste, but it may not be the classiest to wrap and give as a gift or to store this toy in.

Experience

This was the second toy that I decided to try from Hustler. The first one turned out to be pretty horrible, but I figured that they at least deserved a second chance. I went with the Rocker 7 vibrator for my cheap trial toy because I didn't have very high hopes.

My surprise? This is a fairly solid toy. While it doesn't knock my socks off, it's quiet enough to use in the public showers and strong enough to be fun. It's nowhere near the power of a lot of toys I own, but for $13 I didn't have very high expectations. It's held up well compared to the other toys I've gotten in this price range and seems to be well made.

Overall, this toy gets a 4 out of 5 stars. If I could give it 3.5 out of 5 I would just because it's lacking in power, but for the price and noise level it holds its own.
