Mood Sensuous from Doc Johnson is a seven function massager. It can be used to massage your back or sensitive erogenous zones like balls and shaft, or nipples, clitoris, labia, or outside your anus. This is meant for external use only, so please do not insert this into your anus because it does not have the proper design for this.

Mood Sensuous can be used alone or with a partner. Alone, you could use it by itself or in conjunction with a dildo or insertable vibrator. I tried using it while on top of my husband and holding it onto my clitoris, but this hurt and was just in the way. The material is too firm to be used this way. I find it would be best used in a position that the two of you are not right on top of each other.

The Mood Sensuous is made out of ABS plastic. ABS, also known as Acrylonitrile Butadiene Stryene, is a common thermoplastic sex toy material that’s lightweight, easy to manufacture, super-tough, and impact resistant. ABS sex toys are also easy to clean and are considered to be latex free, hypoallergenic, and phthalate-free. For these reasons ABS plastic rates an 8 on the safety scale.

The toy is hard and offers no flexibility at all. It has a nice, shiny, smooth, and sleek design. Part of the massager is a shiny black and the other part is a dull black. The portion that is matte is softer than the sections that are glossy. Both sections do not offer any texture to the massager at all, so if you are one that loves toys with texture then this toy is not for you. It is best suited for those that enjoy smooth, hard toys.

It has a slight smell, but nothing that is overpowering.

The Mood Sensuous comes in two colors to choose from: pink and black.

It is 6" long and is 5 1/2" around at the top, 4" in the middle, and 3 1/4" at the bottom. I mention this because it is larger at the top and gradually decreases in size as you progress down the toy. If you prefer holding your toys at the smaller end, then this toy was designed with you in mind. Here's a picture of the larger and smaller ends.



The Mood Sensuous isn't very large, and can easily be taken with you on your travels in a bag, purse, or pocket. If you decide to take it with you, take the batteries out so there will not be any accidentally pushed buttons.



The design is shaped very similar to a small computer mouse and is ergonomic in that regard. It doesn't look like a conventional sex toy, so I'm going to assume that someone unfamiliar with toys wouldn't automatically think that's what this was.

It requires two AAA batteries that are not included. The battery compartment is located at the end of the massager and pulls off. It has a paper inside the battery compartment showing which direction the batteries are inserted into the massager.



It has two button controls that are very easy to use. The top button says 7x, and it controls the seven vibration and pulsation patterns. The separate on-off button is located below the 7x button. The raised buttons are very easy to press and they make an audible click when pressed.

It has seven total functions; to turn on, press the on-off button. At this stage, it automatically comes to the first setting, which is a solid vibration pattern. The other six functions are a variety of pulsation patterns which I will describe as follows:

2: medium to fast pulse
3: moderate pulse followed by a fast pulse
4: pulses on and off eleven times and then jumps power levels
5: starts off strong and then decreases in power,and then increases back up
6: three pulses and then a solid for three times and then on the third pulse it adds an extra two pulses
7: roller coaster and then steady

The buzzy, surface based vibrations are located on the larger end of the massager, but can be felt throughout the majority of the toy; the intensity is strongest on the larger end. The vibrations would be considered a 3 Vroom throughout each setting. If you prefer pin-point stimulation this toy will not be for you, because the smaller end does not have the power to be considered good for pin-point stimulation. The buzzy vibrations do not cause my hand to go numb from holding it for long periods of time.

It is considered to be waterproof and it has a protective seal on the inside of the handle to keep water out. However, the battery compartment lid kept coming off in my hands when I was using this, so I don't know exactly how waterproof this could be.

Doc Johnson markets this as whisper quiet. I don't know what they were thinking when they put that on their packaging, because this thing is far from whisper quiet. This is very loud and can sometimes be distracting to me. You won't be able to hear it through a closed door, but there's no chance in using this in a dorm setting unless you want your roommate to know what you're doing.

ABS plastic is easy to clean. Use mild soap and warm water, or use your favorite antibacterial sex toy cleaner or wipe. You can also soak a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol and wipe down your toy. If you're nervous about bringing alcohol in contact with your sensitive genitalia, you can follow the alcohol wipe with a gentle water wipe-down.

You're not restricted by what lubes you may use with this product. It is compatible with water, oil, silicone, and hybrid based lubricants.

Mood Sensuous did not come with any additional storage bag, so you can store it inside a bag of your choice or in your toy compartment with all of your other toys. I keep mine in my lingerie drawer with everything else that I have. It does not pick up any lint and debris so I'm comfortable keeping it out of a bag.

The packaging is not discreet; you can see the toy through the package.

My favorite use for this toy is to massage my husband's back. He loves the power that it offers. He's like Goldilocks: it's not too weak and it's not too strong, but it's just right for his liking. I like that I'm able to use it for extended periods of time without my hand going numb. I usually have issues when I'm trying something for his back where the product will make my hand go numb, so I appreciate that this does not.
