This is a fantastic toy to invest in if you're interested in a luxury vibrator that is well-made, powerful, versatile, and quiet. Beginners may want to experiment with similar, cheaper toys before they take the plunge.

Use

From her: Combining optimal size with a sensual and silky texture, plus an array of powerful and varied vibrations, the Celestial is currently my favorite vibrator for internal use. Since it's made of pure silicone, this toy is suited both for vaginal or anal use, but my preference is for vaginal insertion. Since it's quite flexible, I didn't find the Celestial to work very well as a clitoral stimulator - I prefer lots of hard, unyielding pressure on my clit - but this same flexibility is exactly what makes it so enjoyable when inserted. I originally intended to use this toy for foreplay, but once it was inserted, I found I didn't want anything else, except perhaps another vibrator to pair it with for clitoral stimulation.

From him: While the Celestial is certainly the largest internal vibrator I've worked with, I can't say that it's the most effective. Though the size is a nice feature, I found that it was simply too flexible to get the hard, direct prostate stimulation that I enjoy. The rings below the head were probably my favorite part, though. The sensations generated when you slide the tip in and out are very pleasurable, but just not enough to get the job done. It makes for a good warm up.

Material / Texture

From her: I've used full-silicone toys before, but none have come close to the silky texture of the Celestial. Perhaps it's the "medical-grade Japanese" aspect of the silicone, but this toy is a sensual delight both while in use and just while handling it. It has a soft, almost velvety feeling to it. Combined with lube and/or vaginal juices, having this toy inserted is a truly luxurious experience. I couldn't detect any smell off of it when it was first removed from the packaging. This is also a very flexible toy in comparison to other full-silicone toys we have used - there is a considerable amount of 'give' in the shaft, making it easy to bend back and forth or side to side. While this makes it easier to accommodate the toy internally, and adds to the realistic feeling of it, it also takes it out of the running for those looking for a toy that will not bend or move around when inserted.

From him: The velvet texture of the Celestial makes it a total lint trap. It'll attract every stray hair, dust mote, and fuzz in the area. You're going to have to give it at least a quick rinse before use.

Also, it seems like there's a few hollow chambers inside of the toy, that add to the flexibility. Expect a squishiness.

Design / Shape / Size

From her: This is a very aesthetic vibrator. The color is a subtle lilac, paired with a metallic silver on the handle. I found the girth (1 5/8") to be just at that "sweet spot" for me where it is somewhat difficult to get in, but extremely pleasurable once inserted. Though it is over 9 inches in length, only 6 1/2" of the shaft is insertable. This was perhaps a bit short for my tastes, but the Celestial makes up for what it lacks in length with its girth and vibrations. The three ribbed rings below the head of the shaft feel interesting when the toy is being inserted, but because I found the Celestial a little girthy for thrusting in and out, I was not really able to feel or enjoy the rings as much as I had hoped; I wasn't able to feel the ribbed rings on or around my G-spot, either. Inexperienced users may find this toy a little large. In my opinion, it's also a bit large for travel - though it certainly could fit in a suitcase or duffel bag, I personally I would take along a smaller vibrator in its place.

Functions / Performance / Controls

From her: The controls for the Celestial are located, as with most vibrators, at its base. There is a small 'on' button, and below that, a larger button which controls the type of vibration. Although the larger button looks as if it might be a wheel-type controller, it's actually just a simple button - this confused me a bit when I was first fiddling with the toy. It has seven different functions - steady vibrations of three varying speeds; a crescendo vibration (starts off slow and light and then revs up); a steady pulse vibration; a quicker steady pulse vibration; and a setting which alternates a long pulse with a series of quick short pulses. I found the two lower speeds to be uninteresting, but the most powerful steady vibration was very enjoyable, as was the crescendo vibration, which is perhaps my favorite setting. It feels almost like a car engine starting up, is a nice mixture of pleasure and teasing, and it definitely gets my juices flowing. Since the Celestial is a long toy, the controls are easy to reach and simple to operate. It's also very quiet, which is a big plus. Although it's billed as waterproof, I would not personally feel comfortable taking it in the shower because of how much of the toy remains outside, leaving it susceptible, I feel, to water damage.

Care and Maintenance

From him: This is a silicone toy, so that means that you need to stay well away from silicone based lubes. We always suggest a water based lube for all toys, and this is no exception.

For super easy use between multiple people, as always, use a condom. This toy is silicone based, so you will be able to sterilize it between people, but it is a bit of a chore. Due to the electronic components, you're not going to be able to boil it, or stick it in your dishwasher, but a mild bleach solution will do the trick. Let it dry and give it another wash with warm soapy water when you're done.

Because of the softness of the toy, you're going to want to store it separately from anything pointy. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to keep it in a cover, but a sock will do in a pinch. If you're leaving it for any extended period between uses, remove the batteries to make sure everything will be ready to go when you need it next.

Packaging

From him: The toy comes in a box that's frankly about twice as large as it needs to be. A wide, white paperboard box with embossed lettering on the outside, along with a picture of the vibrator. Nothing graphic, but it is very obviously a sex toy. The front cover can be opened to display a plastic window into the packaging, where you can see the toy before you open it.

The toy doesn't include a manual, all of the information regarding it is printed on the outside of the box.
