The Metal Jewels Sweet Curve by Cal Exotics is perfect for beginners. Jewel (her new name)can be used internally, for clitoral stimulation, and also for nipple stimulation. I wouldn't recommend anal use, because there isn't a flared base. The vibration level is great for someone who's trying to find what they like. The vibrations aren't too weak, but they're not so strong that someone would be scared away if it turns out they aren't power queens.

It is a little loud, so it would be best to use this when you are in the shower since it is waterproof, or behind a closed door with background noise.

Jewel's name is pretty misleading since she isn't actually metal, instead she's plastic. She scores an 8 on the Eden safety scale, so it's non-porous, and pretty easy to clean.

Jewel is very rigid, so there is no give at all. Sometimes I find that the firmness of it can be irritating when just stimulating my clit. She is very smooth and shiny. Even though there is a little raised part, I couldn't feel it once inserted, or even touching it to my clit.


There was no smell or taste right out of the package. Even though the firmness was annoying at times, I enjoyed the lack of texture. I tend to stay away from any toys with texture since the ones I have tried were usually overkill.

As you can see from the pictures, Jewel is a metallic pink color. It appears to possibly be painted on, but after trying to scratch it myself, nothing chipped off.

When I took Jewel out of her box, I thought she was very pretty. She is a metallic pink color, with a small silver ring right before the battery cap. Though the tip is slightly curved, it didn't seem to provide any g-spot stimulation to me. I don't count this as a flaw, since it doesn't state anywhere on the box that it's supposed to stimulate the g-spot.

It is shaped just like a traditional vibrator, so there isn't a learning curve when first using her.

Size:
Jewel's size makes her perfect for beginners. She is 6.25 inches total. 5 inches are insertable. The diameter is only 1 inch, giving her a circumference of 3 inches. I enjoy big toys, but I loved the beginner friendly size for a warm-up. Here is Jewel compared to an iPhone:


Jewel is super easy to hide, but I don't consider her discreet. While pretty, she is very recognizable as a vibrator. There isn't a lock function either, so I won't say she is travel friendly necessarily. However, since the control button is on the bottom, it isn't easily turned on while in the box.

I easily give Jewel 5 stars on design. Function and performance, on the other hand, is more like a 3.5 for me. I think it's more of a personal preference though, because so far she works just fine.

She has 7 functions total. I'll do my best to describe them:

The vibrations are pleasantly prominent in the tip of the vibrator, as well as the lower part. This is a big plus for me since I have had other toys where the vibrations were mostly towards the bottom. Two things caused me to lower the rating overall, and that was how noisy the vibrations are, and how buzzy they are. Some people prefer buzzy, so I really don't blame the toy for my preference of rumbly vibrations. They are also quite strong! The lowest setting was a shock to me, and I had to warm myself up a little more before trying again.

Back to the noise level. I think the buzzy vibrations contributes to how loud she is. She is easily heard through covers, and also can be heard through a door if the rest of the house is quiet. With a closed door and some background noise, or a shower, Jewel is easily muffled. Since my boyfriend and I live alone, the noise didn't affect us.

The functions are decent, and I liked the 6th one the best. The 4th one is also pretty good at slowly building towards an orgasm. My only complaint about the functions would be noise related. With just low, medium, and high, the vibrations are consistent and easy to block out the noise. When it's less consistent and changing, like with the last 4 functions, it got harder to tune out.

The controls are also beginner friendly. I absolutely love the silicone button on the bottom. It is white and pretty big, so it's not hard to spot. It isn't hard to press the button to change functions, but it isn't easy enough that you change them accidentally while using the toy. She's waterproof, and she performed well in the shower. I haven't submerged her completely though, since I haven't taken her into the tub with me yet. There is a cap that twists and locks on when a little notch is lined up in the correct spot:

I think both of these things help to make my little Jewel waterproof.

Taking care of Jewel is really easy since she is plastic. All I do is wash her with antibacterial soap and warm water. To store her, I just put her back into the box she came in, since it is small enough not to take up too much space. The packaging recommends only using water-based lube for maximum pleasure.

The packaging is not discreet at all, so I would recommend putting her and the box into a gift bag if you plan to give Jewel as a gift. The box is small enough for storing her in your toy box. There weren't any instructions with the package -- but I felt that it was pretty self-explanatory, since there is only one control button.

Even though Jewel's vibrations were a bit loud and buzzy, she was still able to get me off. At the end of the day, that's what's important to me. She is also very pretty, which is always a plus. I rated her more on how well she worked rather than on my personal preferences in vibrations.
