The Shimmers massager is a very basic vibrator. As most vibrators, you can use it for clitoral and vaginal penetration. I experienced the best stimulation near my clitoris. With its slightly angled head/tip, it makes an ideal clitoral stimulator. I don't usually use lubricant for my clit and didn't need it for this toy either.

Sadly to say, vaginal penetration with this toy didn't do much for me; it felt more of a nuisance. I found that the toy seemed to be tight for me, even with lubricant. What confuses me is that I used toys with a wider girth/diameter and it doesn't feel tight like this. Maybe the vertical ribbing has something to do with this feeling.

I feel that I got more excitement for my clit than vaginally with this toy. Anyone has the potential to enjoy this toy, it's just whether this appeals to them personally. I only had the chance to use this solo as my boyfriend was out but this would work anytime, anywhere. It is waterproof so it is prepared for liquid environments. I use this in my tub a fair amount of time and it felt a little more exciting vaginally but not by much.

The Shimmers massager is a smooth plastic, non-porous toy that features vertical ribbing. When I took it out of the package, it didn't have any weird overwhelming plastic smells to it but I still cleaned it prior to use. Safety wise, it is phthalates free, hypo-allergenic, latex free and made of food-grade material.

The vertical ribbing makes up the bottom half of the toy and has grooves that run up and down the toy. It isn't rough or hard, but solid and smooth. I found that the vertical ribbing wasn't an added bonus for me because I inserted maybe an inch and a half vaginally. The angled tip is smooth and flat, with no grooves or ribbing.

I received my Shimmers massager in Pink (although I find it's a magenta-y color) and was excited by the color. The bottom half of the toy features the shiny Pink color. This is the part that is vertically ribbed. Since the ribbing is in the middle, and it is a vibrator, I will assume that it was designed so that you could get quite a bit of the ribbing when using this. This was not the case for me since the most I could get in was about 2.5 inches of the total insertable length of 6.5 inches.. I just wish the ribbing would have started further up the toy a bit so that people who can't penetrate a whole lot will enjoy the toy.

The silver head on the top of the toy is smooth and is ever so slightly smaller in width than the rest of the toy, due to the angled tip. I found that this was ideal for clitoral stimulation because I didn't have a round flat head laying there buzzing away like other vibes or bullets.

The size for me was hit and miss. It measures 7.5 inches in length and 3.25 inches in circumference. It has a diameter of 1 inch and weighs .3 lb so it's a light toy. I liked the circumference which is 3.25 inches and very manageable. I think beginners should start with this because it is not overwhelming at all and very simple. The length was fine but I think having the ribbing start even 2 cm upward would benefit much more people. I suppose you could use this horizontally if you really wanted to feel the ribbing.

With its flashy color and average size, it would take a tiny bit of effort to hide this toy, but not that much. One of my friends uses a plain white sock to keep hers. The toy doesn't scream "LOOK AT ME!" but the color is eyecatching. So maybe the safest option is to store it in a pouch.

I didn't travel with this toy but I think it would be travel friendly. I would suggest not taking a risk and keeping it in stored luggage if flying. This strikes me as a toy that might be safe in some circumstances but you might be risking it in others.

With this dial base toy, I was a little nervous to try it in the water but nothing happened to the toy or me so unless there's a defect, there should be no problems in that respect. I did find that when you unscrew the base to insert the batteries, you have to screw it back very very tightly to get it going. This probably is a safety thing to insure you have screwed the cover tightly to avoid any accidents.

Controlling the speed just requires you to turn the base. I could do it in the dark so it's easy. Control was simple enough but the performance wasn't that great. It is a multi-speed toy. I felt like that there were only two speeds, slow and fast. The speed changes gradually so maybe that's why. But if you want specific speeds preset, this is not the toy. It reminded me of old fashioned radios that you adjusted with a knob to set the speed, except you don't have markers to remind you. Actually, it would benefit someone who likes to feel their speed and adjust it til it is just right.

I didn't have a problem with the noise. It ranged from a quiet hum to a background noise that you get used. Nothing loud or noticeable came from use with this toy. I used it in the water and it didn't make any noises for me. I think the water muffled whatever noises it manages to make otherwise, but even then it shouldn't bother you.

As for batteries, which this toy requires 2 AAs, I had a pair that were halfway used when I put it it. It has lasted me for quite a while. Note that I do remove the batteries after every use because even if you turn the dial to stop vibrating, it could turn back on accidentally.

This vibrator is quite easy to clean. It is made out of plastic and is non-porous so a wipe down with rubbing alcohol in between uses and thorough washings with soap and warm water will keep in clean and in good shape. Other appropriate cleaners will work as well if you choose.

Silicone, oil and water based lubricants are recommended for use with plastic toys and this is no exception. I liked my water based lubricant the best with this. It produced better results than with silicone. I did not try oil lubricant but it should be safe.

Storing this toy is as simple as it comes. The obvious don't would be to avoid water that could seep into the battery compartment. I keep mine in the plastic packaging it came in but you could slide it into a box or drawer easily.

I think this would work great with other toys supplementing it. I would suggest maybe a silicone dildo for penetration with the tip of the Shimmers massager for clitoral stimulation.

The toy came in a clear pull apart packaging with an insert of a model and the name of the product. Usually, I would hate this and I think I did a bit in the beginning. But it is fun and I don't mind that the package is very basic. You can open the package without scissors and get right to it. There is a small note for instructions that sits in a ridge. I think it would be pretty easy to figure out how to set up this toy with instructions but it is there just in case. This toy has a die cut of the toy that it sits in so I would say that you can't reuse it unless you have a toy that would fit in it.

I'm excited for this toy to be great. But it disappoints a little. I find it better for clitoral stimulation, not really for penetration.

But, I think after using this toy, I have realized that I much prefer rubber or silicone toys for penetration. Texturally, it feels better so I can't fault this toy much.
