Not a Guardian Angel!!

This ring was pretty much a disaster. It was uncomfortable and had to be removed almost as soon as it was placed on. There are much better rings in the same price range.
It is phthalates-free.
Not able to be stretched, open area that causes pinching and discomfort.

The Guardian Erection Cock Ring by California Exotic was a recent purchase for my hubby as a surprise. It arrived in a small box and I was rather excited about trying it out. We have used several different types of cock rings but not one that was designed like this one. The Guardian ring is made out of rubber but it is a hard rubber. The description says it is a stretchy ring. However, it takes muscle man to stretch this ring apart! This is not a solid ring as it has an open area at one end. I saw this when ordering it but I did not realize that you couldn't actually pull the ends together. My concern was that the open area would pinch my husband at the most inconvenient time.

The Guardian Ring is made of rubber but when it was opened, it did not smell of rubber. I cleaned it with warm water and anti-bacterial soap and placed it at the bedside. Rubber is porous and it is usually recommended to use a condom with rubber toys but that would be pretty hard to do with this ring so good clean is in order when using it. The Guardian is yellow in color but not a pretty yellow. It looks more like something that has been lying around for years and yellowed due to age. There is one good component to the ring in that it is phthalates free which helps reduce the chance of an allergic reaction. The un stretched diameter is about 1 ½ inches and the maximum stretched diameter is about 1 ¾ inches.

That night, we decided to try out the Guardian. Once my husband had an erection, we tried to slide the ring over his cock, to the base of it. We did use a water based lube but a silicone lube can also be used. Sliding it over his cock was pretty much a chore, even with lube. Finally we did get it over and slid down to the base and at this point, hubby said it was very uncomfortable and was pinching him. (My fear come true). The purpose of the ring is to assist in prolonged ejaculation. However, due to the discomfort of the open area of the ring, hubby had to remove it shortly after it was in place. Removing it was not any easier than putting it on.
We only used this ring once. After the uncomfortable experience hubby experienced, we decided it was not worth trying it again. We have several other rings that work much better. This ring may work better if it was a solid ring and didn't have the open area that can pinch and cause discomfort.
Follow-up commentary
For the sake of the follow up review, we did try this ring one more time. It was just as bad the second time as it was the first time. We knew we wouldn't be using it ever again, so it made its way to the trashcan. I feel like we gave it a fair shot, but it's just not worth the purchase.
