2012 Eden Catalog - book by EdenFantasys - review by Drakoni

A Little, Colorful Toy Book of Fun

I was very surprised to learn that this is Eden Fantasys first catalog. You are immediate hit by how much went into this catalog. Over 100 products are shown in beautiful color photos. Each product is accompanied with a quote from an Eden reviewer, product number, customer rating, & regular price. A wide variety of categories are covered (~4 products/category), although some categories are lacking. Overall, an awesome first mini-catalog.
Colorful, great pictures (over 100), variety of products, quality paper, & reviewer quotes.
Materials guide is too short, some categories are lacking (i.e. lingerie), & no product details.
Rating by reviewer:
extremely useful review

About author

The authors of this catalog are, of course, the wonderful staff of Eden Fantasys. Everyone who has spent much time surfing around the website has read their posts and seen their photographs. That same quality and attention to detail can be seen in this mini catalog. Throughout the catalog, you'll find quotes from various contributors on the website. I was delighted to recognize several of the names.

I definitely recommend saving these from your orders. Keep one for yourself and pass the others out to your girlfriends...or just leave them in random places as js250 suggested in her review. ^_^

Content / Style / Audience

The 2012 Eden Fantasys catalog is a 34 page half-page (A5) booklet. It features a beautiful bright white cover with a rainbow of adjectives to describe the site. The quality does stop at the cover. Inside, you'll find pictures of over 100 products from a variety of categories...

I absolutely love the cover of this catalog! The white background with a rainbow of text just pops out at you! All of the adjectives are perfect in describing the Eden Fantasys community and the catalog itself.

Generally, I like the style of the layouts in this catalog and how it draws your eyes to various spots on each page. A few of the pages are confusing, though, unless you are already familiar with the products. The product descriptions are not placed consistently to the side or above/below the product picture, so some of the pages are difficult to follow. This could be corrected with lines or shadows to connect the picture and description or arranging the descriptions so that they are consistently under or next to the product picture. Or, product name labels on the pictures would work.

My favorite page design is the two-page layout of the Zini line of vibrators on pages 27 & 28. Just absolutely beautiful!

Personal comments

One of the features I really like is the mobile barcodes. They are well-placed and work effortlessly. I've seen some catalogs with barcodes that take forever to get a good scan, but these all worked on the first try. The only negative is that there are only five of them--three of which are for general site features and two are for produce lines. It would be awesome if there was a barcode for each product in the catalog.

There is so much about this catalog that I absolutely love. But, this catalog did leave me wanting more. I would love to see Eden expand this into a full-sized catalog with more products, details about each product, and a detailed materials guide. Here are some of the things I loved and some of the things that left me wanting a bit more.

Things I Loved
* colorful cover
* professional product pictures
* reviewer quotes
* Jaimes & Rachel's T-rex (on page 5)
* the variety of products featured
* Zini product spread (on pages 27-28)
* Fun Factory G4 Vibes & the circuit schematic in the background (on page 31)
* the corset on the back cover

Things I Wish Were Included
* an extended materials guide (Two pages really isn't enough for just how many materials are out there.)
* details about each product (material, size, etc.)
* more products for guys (Only about 10% of the products are really for guys.)
* more mobile (QR) barcodes (One for each product would be awesome.)
* more lingerie and other products for couples (such as sex furniture)
