Content / Style / Audience

This book contains over 100 different sex positions for heterosexual couples to try and enjoy together. Each position has a tasteful colored photo depicting the position to go along with it as well as a lovely description of the position. The book is full of little tips and even has a small section on sex toys. The book is made up of a few different sections: An Introduction, 4 Chapters and an Index.

The Introduction gives a short highlight to each of the upcoming chapters.

Chapter 1 covers "Erotic Embraces". There are many positions in this section where your bodies are pressed very closely together to create a very intimate experience. We have tried many of these positions and we really enjoy them.

Chapter 2 covers "Maximum Sensation". Many of these positions are meant to help drag out the experience so you can get the most of your lover. Sex doesn't always have to be fast and hard. Sometimes slow and sensual it just as wonderful.

Chapter 3 covers "Acrobatic Ecstasy". These positions are still simple enough to manage and give you more variety in the angles of your bodies both visually and physically.

Chapter 4 covers "Games and Adventures". It is probably my favorite chapter because it mentions many fun little fantasy games that can make things very exciting, from bondage to role reversals. I really enjoy things like this in the bedroom so we will be visiting this chapter often I'm sure.

I think this book would be great for couples that are just starting to explore and incorporate new things into their bedrooms, but there are so many fun things in this book it could definitely be enjoyed greatly by any couple at any experience level.

Design

Anne Hooper’s Ultimate Sex Positions is a hard cover book. It has a removable paper sleeve cover. I usually hate books with sleeves like this because I tend to remove them while I'm reading and then lose them which can be a little frustrating! Not the book's fault of course, but irritating all the same. Losing this cover will not help to make the book any more discreet as the exact same images on the sleeve are printed onto the actual book!

I really like this book's layout. There is a large title of the position at the top, a line telling you what it is good for under neath the title and then the picture of a couple in the position, small blurbs about the position and things you can do to make the position better spread out around the rest of the page. Some positions (it looks like more common positions) have full page pictures and take up two pages.

Personal comments

The book is called 101 sex positions, but it doesn't stop there. I loved all the little extra hints and tips this book included. They were very cute and while most of them were tips we already use in our bedroom I think they're a great addition to the book. I like that many of the positions were ones that any average couple could manage, but I found many of the positions to be very similar. The only difference was in the placement of hands, legs or arms. I know sometimes even a little shift can make a big difference, but I would have loved to see a different variety of positions. Perhaps a few that were even a little crazy.

Experience

When I told my boyfriend I had something new from EF for us to check out he got all excited. When I told him it was a book he got very unexcited...and then he saw the book. Positions are one of his favorite things to try. He is ALWAYS coming to bed and saying "so I was on the internet the other day/I was watching a movie the other day and I saw this position I think we should try". Needless to say he quite enjoyed the book. I'll come home sometimes and he'll be on the couch or in the bed flipping through the book. I'm pretty sure he doesn't read much of the descriptions, but that's alright. I'm glad he finally found a book he likes! We enjoy the book every now and then by flipping the book open to a random page and testing out the position that's there. I think this book has great tips for helping to create a very intimate and romantic atmosphere and experience during sex. It would be a great place to start if you're just starting to explore new things or if you want a little more intimacy in the bedroom.
Follow-up commentary
We don't use it much anymore, but it's seems to have become a favorite at parties. Doesn't matter where I keep the thing, it somehow finds its way into someones hands during the night.
