Tasteful Yet Not So Tame

If you or someone you know is new to the art of lovemaking, this book is perfect. It's romantic, it's beautiful, it's just like sex should be. Granted the raunchy stuff is fun too, but the very basic element of lovemaking is love and sharing ones self with a partner. Though the more experienced may find the positions to be yesterdays news, perhaps a new bride who is still all full of lovy-dovy butterflies would find this book absolutely enchanting.

Content / Style / Audience

This book features over 100 different sex positions that are beautifully photographed and displayed in a very sort of "soft core" manner in that it isn't raunchy or porn-like, but it can still get your imagination going quite nicely. We aren't talking about two dimensional diagram drawings here, we're talking about handsome models attractively doing what we all love to do in every which way that it can be done.

Each position is described in a very sensual way, and just reading the instructions out loud to your partner is sure to get them going. The theme of the book is that sex and lovemaking is very beautiful and the human experience of this ritual is anything but boring as long as you're working the angles.

It does seem to use about the same six or so positions over and over but with variations on where you put your hands and legs and how high to put your butt up, etc. So if you're a seasoned vet this book might not teach you anything new, but for couples who are just starting out or who have never experimented with different positions, this book will be very informational.

Because the tone of the book is very romantic and loving, it wouldn't be quite geared toward the serial one-night-stander. It does however offer several tips on Chinese philosophy, erogenous zones, and even the art of oral sex. Here is where the vets may learn a thing or two. These little facts are found on every page throughout the book.

Personal comments

As I flipped through the pages of the book, I would occasionally show a page to my boyfriend, whose reaction was usually to say "that's interesting" with a raised eyebrow and a smile. Though sometimes he'd say "oh we've done that," he still seemed very pleased by the pictures.

I'd also read out of the book on some of the more romantic sounding ideas and theories, and he'd agree with me on such things as the philosophy of sex being a kind of dance between two lovers and that lovemaking is an amazing sort of connection between two people. Especially when the book would go into prolonging sex and delaying orgasm, making it less about "getting off" and more about experiencing and being with one another.

Basically, it was nothing like when we'd watch a porn and he'd say "aw man, I wanna fuck you like that, that's fuckin' hot." Which is also nice, but the book kind of brings out the softer, more romantic and loving sort of passionate sexual intrigue. For how deeply we feel for each other, this is very much experienced and needed in our relationship.

Experience

Fun thing to do: Flip to a page, any page... do whatever is on that page.

You're welcome.
Follow-up commentary
I'm so still into the photography in this book that I feel like I should recreate it. I often show the book to friends and everyone agrees that even though there's not much new in this book to learn, just looking at the photos make you want to do it all.
