Best lesbian erotica 2012 - book discontinued by Cleis Press Inc. - review by Waterfall

Best Lesbian Erotica 2012 collection of lesbian themed erotica contains 22 stories that were selected by Sinclair Sexsmith and edited by Kathleen Warnock. I will be honest and say that I was not familiar with either of these two individuals, so I made sure to read the information that is included on them in the back of the book (along with shorter blurbs on each of the contributing authors).

This was the first collection of erotica that I purchased which was lesbian themed. I usually read anthologies that incorporate a mixture of everything and don’t generally have a preference sexual orientation-wise so I decided to give this one a try.

One thing that sticks out about this anthology is that although it is described as lesbian anthology, there are stories that include males (one in particular stands out as seeming like a heterosexual story). As I mentioned, I enjoy reading well written and arousing erotica no matter the pairings (or groupings). However, I had seen some reviews on other sites where people were upset that stories of this nature were included in this anthology. So I would keep that in mind if you think this would make you frustrated.

I found a lot of stories that I really enjoyed. In my opinion, there are many stories with a lot of kink and less that are vanilla. I was very happy about this, but if you are looking for more romantic stories then I might suggest another anthology. Here are a few of them:

Blood Lust by Giselle Renarde- As the title suggests there is some blood play here, but there was something about the intensity in the story that I really liked.

Maid for You by Deborah Castellano- This story put me in such a relaxed, yet aroused mind set. I felt like I was in the story being pampered after coming home from work. Anyone who comes home from work and is tired will enjoy this one.

How He Likes It by Xan West- Although this story focuses on two men and a woman, I enjoyed the very kinky sex that occurred and thought it was very arousing. So as long as you are not hoping for 3 women in this story then it will appeal to those who enjoy more intense erotica.

On My Honor by D.L. King- This was a very well written and highly arousing story by one of the more well-known authors in the erotica genre. It featured some serious BDSM-type sexual activities and I highly recommend this one and would rate it in my top 3 from this book.

Never Too Old by DeJay- I enjoyed this story because it featured an older couple who were trying some new things. People over 30 are not as present in a lot of the erotica that I have read and I found this story refreshing because it let older couples make an appearance in a high quality collection.

Overall, I found this to be a great collection of erotica and I enjoyed every story, even those that did not make my favorites list. I am happy to say that many of them were a real turn on and I can definitely see myself coming back to reread this collection at a later time.
