When I approached 'The Fine Art of Erotic Talk', I believed that words alone were enough to arouse. However, author Bonnie Gabriel opened the door to a new world of sensual interaction between partners. This book is divided into four parts: Initiation, Seduction, Mastery, and Enhancement.

As the author explains, when most people hear the term "erotic talk", they simply think of "talking dirty". However, as I learned in this well-written guide, there are many more facets: tone, volume, and even sentence structure. As you read, you will learn breathing exercises, vocal exercises, and vocabulary to assist you in becoming a master at erotic talk. This vocal form of sexual intimacy frequently gets underutilized.

Part one is a warm-up. Breathing exercises and basic vocal anatomy are covered. Terms such as volume, pitch, resonance, and rhythm are explained and put into context. Part two covers the actual speaking. You will read scenarios and learn to express your emotions and feelings in seductive ways. As with other types of communication, positive and negative feedback can be encountered in erotic talk. Ways to negotiate safe sex are also covered in part two. Part three delves into sensitivity; more specifically, becoming aware of your body's responses and recalling past experiences. The three "primary-processing modes" goes from the classroom to the bedroom; visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning are put to the test in the thrilling Sensory Isolation Fantasy exercise. Part four discusses the act of talking dirty; the categories and use of graphic words to incite arousal are covered. Enhancing erotic talk with vulgar speech may help you reach that orgasm that you have been longing for; as a participant in Ms. Gabriel's workshop states, talking dirty seems to liberate a part of your sexuality that has always been submerged.

Through the exercises, examples, and encouragement found in this book, I was able to transform myself from a shy bedroom speaker into a more confident, vocal partner in bed. It will take some time and some effort, but the dividends are worth their weight in gold. By working on your ability to entice your partner with words, you can add fuel to the fire of your romance.

This sounds like an interesting book. It sounds like it provides some basic vocal training and then uses the tools to help the reader speak erotically. Has your partner(s) made any comments about changes that have been noticed in the bedroom? Has it enhanced particular experience for both of you? Thanks for the review.

From the sound of it, this may be the most useful book of it's kind I've seen yet. Thanks for the review!

Jimbo Jones - She hasn't made any direct comments...yet. I believe that it has enhanced her ability to climax; she feeds off of erotic talk. My voice is more deeper and more confident now (prior to reading the book, I never noticed how my voice changed when I was nervous). There are a lot less episodes of silence and awkwardness. More confidence...more things to say...more stoking of her fire. Thanks for the questions.

I like the idea of this book. I don't have many reservations about "talking dirty" but my husband could use some tips and encouragement. I might have to get this for us both to read. Thanks for the review!

Besides the possible complexity and confusion, was there anything else that wasn't great about this book?
