Content / Style / Audience

True to its title, this book features fifty two ways to enjoy a quickie. A quickie is defined by Audacia Ray as spontaneous sexual activity for the purpose of instant gratification. Each idea is illustrated on the left page and described on the right page, so the reader can easily visualize and understand each idea. Its color scheme is white, black, powder pink and bright red violet. The pages have a retro feel but the ideas are anything but outdated.

The illustrations are inspiring and the text tells the reader just enough to pique their interest and provoke a little experimentation. I must acknowledge that many of these ideas are not very practical, and some are actually illegal. Please use sound judgment and make sure that you will not be breaking any laws before venturing outside your home for a quickie(#10). Also, be sure that you consider safety issues before trying these ideas at home. A slippery bathtub(#34)or a nest filled with fire ants(#29)could bring your quickie to an unpleasant and premature conclusion. Even if you never actually try one of the fifty two ideas that Dacia shares in this book, there is plenty of exciting material here to fuel your fantasies.

Were the illustrations explicit or more conceptual? Nice review!
  • Contributor: Snappy
They are tasteful and erotic, specific but not explicit.

@Cynthia Thanks very much. Glad that you like it!

Hmm. We wonder how many "studies" she did on the fire ants episode, or others, before finding out they're illegal, or just a little dangerous!
  • Contributor: Snappy
I don't know. Spontaneous sex is great but sometimes unpleasant surprises result!

The background on the author is extremely interesting...almost half of what makes me want to pick up this book. Does the book itself go into a lot about Audacia Ray, or was that research you did on your own?
  • Contributor: Snappy
I've done a little research and combined it with some of the information provided in the book, which is not autobiographical.

Glad that you pointed out that there are SOME ideas that might not be...practical - thanks for your honesty

You're welcome. I didn't want to dampen anyone's enthusiasm for the book or rain on anyone's parade, but some of the ideas need to be "practicality checked" and adapted for safe, sane and consensual use.
