Interesting and Sometimes a Turn-on

Herotica 6 is a book full of diverse and interesting stories bound to have a little something for everyone. The stories are all written in a way that really brings you into the story, although some were a bit too long for me. This is a good book if you have the patience to read through the stories and find a few that you like.

Herotica 6 is the first erotic novel I’ve read. I chose this novel because it looked like it consisted of very diverse stories, which meant I had a good chance of finding something that would appeal to me while exposing myself to new fantasies. This turned out to be right on – I have found a handful of stories that turn me on every time I read them, and in the process I read a lot of very interesting fantasies.

I really like this book because it exposes me to a lot of very different fantasies, but I have to say that because of the diverse nature of the stories my first read through was a little bit frustrating. I would pick up Herotica 6 for a little bit of fun and the story I was reading would actually turn me off. You would think, then, I would just pick a new story, but the problem is each story takes a certain amount of time to get into and it takes me a few pages to determine whether or not I will like it. Sometimes parts of the story would turn me on, but then the story would continue and get sad and I would get turned off again. This made the first read through the book a little hard. I found the best thing to do was to read it as a novel, not as necessarily erotica. Then if it turned me on that was cool, but if it turned me off I wasn’t frustrated. This way I could read about all these different fantasies and keep a list in my head of which stories were sure to turn me on. Now when I want erotica I read only these stories.

The theme of this Herotica novel is committed relationships. I thought that this would be sexy, but I’m not sure that I like it. I like committed relationships, and I like that this book introduces you to a lot of different and fun ways of being in a committed relationship. However, I think one of the reasons that many of the stories turned me off is because it seemed like one of the people in the relationship was cheating on another, or wanted to cheat. This was solved by some creative sex on the part of the other partner, but the whole need or want to cheat just turned me off. Perhaps because I am currently single I just don’t vibe with these stories right now, this book might be really good for people in committed relationships. Especially if you are into non-conventional committed relationships. Also, it might offer some inspiration to spice up your love life if you’ve been in a relationship for a while.

I expect quality erotica to be highly emotionally charged, but for a short story to turn "sad" would definitely be a mood-killer for me, too.
