It’s like a sexy Chicken Soup for The Femme’s Soul….

You'll buy it because of the catchy title, but you'll read it and pass it on because it's open, honest and it's something most women can relate to. So read If you’re newly out or still questioning – yes, this stuff does happen and if you’ve been out, proud and loving it forever, I know you can relate. For any woman who’s attracted to other women, read and enjoy this book - laugh, cry, reminisce, empathize, sympathize and relate, because it’s inevitable - but don’t take this book too seriously.

When I started this book, I found it annoying. It seemed like it's made just for femme or "lipstick" lesbians, which it is. As I continued to read, I became more and more interested. It's not the ultimate guidebook for lesbians or a how to textbook to living as a lesbian, femme or otherwise. It’s a book for any woman who has ever has an attraction to another woman. It's not the most intelligent piece ever written, but that's probably why it will work for some people. It is written in a style that's easily accessible and quite humorous. The stories and anecdotes do touch upon the many lifestyles that are out there that go beyond the typical triad of gay, bi or straight. This book puts out the message that there's so much more out there and also that no one is defined by their sexuality.

If you've ever had questions about your sexuality or if you're still new to your sexuality then this can be a great book for you to read. You will learn fast that everything you feel is so normal - confusion, anger, sadness, loneliness etc - it all comes with the territory.

And if you've been lucky and you just “knew” who and what you were, there are still experiences that you can easily relate to. Regardless of how you came to this point of your life (gay, bisexual, curious etc.), this book still gives you a feeling of not being a freak or a weirdo and of instead being a normal, healthy and sexual being.

My major complaint with this book is that it was written for young “lipstick” lesbians. Every other word in this book seems to be all about being pretty and stylish and into fashion and “girly” things but still being gay as if they’re saying “Hey, we know it seems impossible to be gay and feminine but here are all of these stories to show you how to do both.”
