Sexual variety? You want the sexual equivalent of mac and cheese sex tonight sweetie!

It was a joy to read this book, once I got past my Cosmo language hate-on. It had witty yet practical advice and had a beautiful presentation. It covers a wide variety of topics and constantly encourages readers to engage in condom safe sex.

Firstly anything with the word "Red" in it's title makes me happy. "Red-Hot Sex" makes me even happier! This 240 page hardcover book with it's sexy glossy pages makes you want to moan the word 'yummy' just thinking about flipping through it's delicious little pages. It comes with a pretty dust jacket, which I wound up taking off, I liked the sleek look of the simple black hardcover with it's big flashy words. Not to mention with chapters entitled "Become a Penis Genius" you can't help but love this book, just a little. And if you are brave I encourage you to put it in sight somewhere for when your girls come over, it certainly starts conversations!

Before we delve too deep into this red hot sex guide let's get one thing straight. Cosmo language scares me. I find it very hard to concentrate when the language feels straight out of an episode of some high school teenage drama. Not to mention I ALWAYS find my self using all of their little colloquialisms and catch phrases immediately after reading. But major props to the information, this book does has tips to blow anyone's mind. Yummy.

It's broken into 4 sections: Preplay, Foreplay, The Main Event, and After play (As well as an added section of short Cosmo erotic fiction). Preplay outlines all of those things that we need to be doing before we find ourselves naked and scrambling for a condom. It gives tips on how to set the mood, get into the mood, look the part of a sex kitten, tease him all day long from afar and erotic massage. Foreplay outlines how to kiss him, getting familiar with his "M" zone, wet 'n' wild fun in the tub, how to "Become a Penis Genius", how to teach HIM to please YOU (Hooray!!), how to introduce toys into the mix, and teasing him mercilessly whilst dressed. The Main Event talks about orgasms during intercourse, how to achieve MULTIPLE orgasms as well as maximizing the climax for both of you. It offers some Cosmo versions of standard sex positions, the 7 types of sex everyone needs, how to utilize his sense of sight, and taking sex to a deeper level. After play gives the reader clues to how they can remain more connected after sex and how to get ready for round two.

Each section offers practical and reasonable tips to solving everyday problems, while managing to add a little bit of spice to your sack sessions. Some of the advice is fairly standard and straightforward, others are psychological tidbits that work wonders. My personal favorite was including sexual language in everyday conversation to get your lover thinking about you, and sex, and what those words mean (For example instead of saying "That really raised my interest" say "That really aroused my interest" or "I'd love a cherry whiskey and seven" say "I'm so hot for a cherry whiskey and seven"). I also enjoyed the section on increasing your own sexual desire through relaxation techniques before bedtime. By closing your eyes and "focusing" your mental energy on your genital area. You're then supposed to "look" into the darkness of your eyelids. After practicing this, it's supposed to help you end up having really sexually vivid dreams, which in turn wakes you up happy, and cranked up for sex for the rest of the day!

Also included in each chapter are "Guys Uncensored" sections where randomly selected males voice their opinions on what has worked for them in the past.

Overall I thought this book was genius and highly entertaining. It is not the end all do all sexual bible, but it gives the reader a lot to think about, and a wide variety of tips and tools to add a little something special to their sheet sessions. It's definitely a good starting point for someone who might be wanting to introduce new aspects into their sex lives but have shy lovers. While I really don't enjoy the language, it is fun and casual and very non threatening and would make a great read to your partner to give him some new ideas. Please note however, that I feel very strongly that this book is aimed at heterosexual couples. It doesn't really talk about any variations or adjustments that could be make in terms of positions- But really, everyone could learn a tip or two on how to give earth moving oral, or giving an erotic massage to send you into orgasmic bliss.
Follow-up commentary
This book has provided hours of entertainment, education, and laughs for my girlfriends and I. It has useful, witty, and interesting information in it. Every time I reread it I remember to try some new trick, or learn some new tidbit of information, that I'm always excited to share with everyone in my life. It sits proudly on my desk. Every time my friends come over I encourage them to flip through it and take away some new piece of information. It was a joy to read, and I'm sure will continue to bring a smile to my face throughout the years.
