Luxury Sand

Tastes great, smells great, feels...ummm...like sand? I do not like the way this feels on skin as it is more of a sand than a powder. Some days I love it, some days I hate it.

So, let me get this straight… It looks like sand, it feels like sand… does it taste like sand too? Thankfully it does not. Nor does it smell like sand. I have a love/hate relationship with this “powder.” I love the sweet floral and fruity scent and the sweet cake like taste, but on the other hand, I hate, hate, hate, that it feels like sand! When I saw "powder" I was expecting something more akin to powdered sugar. Is sand a powder? I would consider it a granule, and too large to fit into the “powder” category.

Luxury sand… how in the world do you use luxury sand? The plastic jar (I was really hoping it would be glass) comes in a small box. The instructions on the (bottom) of the box say “To Use: Apply sensual body powder|Luxury sensual body powder to skin with enclosed brush.” Okay, that sounds simple enough right? I must say that the brush is super stiff and only seems to pick up larger granules, leaving the more powdery substance to migrate to the bottom of the jar. Oh, and the fact that they do not stay on the skin is really annoying too. Before I forget, the “powder” came enclosed in a small bag that I had to open then empty into the plastic jar.

More than a fruity taste, I think this stuff tastes a lot like cake. Its fairly sweet and has a subtle fruit taste. There is no after taste at all, and I really do think it tastes like cake. The scent is also very pleasing. It smells sweet and floral with a hint of fruitiness. I can’t really describe which flower it smells like, just that it’s floral.

I have tried putting this on my husbands skin and licking it off, but all that happened was the bed felt like I had thrown some sand in it (albeit great smelling sand :D ). I could not get this to stay on his skin. It would just all roll off and into the sheets. It does dissolve very fast, so I’m thinking it might work better to spray your lover down with water first then try applying it. I suggested this to my husband, but he wasn’t interested in the slightest. I also suggested putting whipped cream on him, then sprinkling this over it… he wasn’t into that either as he hates being sticky.

The ingredients in this are modified corn Starch, fructose, maltodextrin, fruit juice, natural and artificial flavoring. It is edible, but should not be put into a vagina.

I really wrestled on the rating for this product. There are some days where I feel like it’s a 4 star product and days where it is a 2 star product. So I compromised and gave it 3 stars for use as a sensual product. As a desert topping though I give it 5 stars! Ice cream, anyone?
Experience
When this is in the bed, creating a very horrid gritty feeling, it will eventual dissolve from the sweat produced by vigorous sex... I know, kinda gross... just thought you should know.

So this is kinda like a pixie stick in a jar? That's what the review reminds me of! Too bad the textures off.
  • Contributor: Bulma
That's actually what my husband said it reminded him of. I however have never had a pixie stick...maybe it's about time I did.

They'd certainly be a lot cheaper! You would have more variety in flavors as well! :)

    Ew, gritty feeling!

Maybe you could exfoliate with it? =P Great review!

I wonder if your jar of this might be defective, and have had some moisture or something get in that made the powder more coarse?

I hate the feeling of sand in my bed. Just one grain is very annoying. I can't imagine trying to sleep with a bunch of this stuff on the sheets. A little expensive for me to use as an ice cream topping as well. Thanks for another great review.

Dame Demi, I had wondering about that, but it would seem weird as it was sealed in a plastic bag inside of the jar. Maybe just old?

    Thanks for the comments everyone!

I think for the brush part, go to an art store or a Michael's craft store and pick up like a five dollar brush. It is cheap and better then that hard thing. Course you are into BDSM, so might be fun for ya

OK. As far as I can tell, you love the taste, you hate the feel, and you never did get it to stay on anyone's body. Why exactly did you give it such a high rating? Just taste?
  • Contributor: Bulma
Thanks for commenting, and I gave it 3 stars because the taste and the smell are very nice. Also I couldn't justify giving it a really low rating because I misunderstood what it was. I was expecting a dust, but it is no fault of the product that it is not exactly what I was expecting. I see 3 stars as a mediocre rating, or average, which is what I felt this product was. I also included at the end of my review that I feel differently about the product on different days. The taste and smell does deserve a 4 star rating, while the grit factor drags it down to a 2. The 3 was just a compromise so I could come to an agreement with myself and give it a final rating. Hope that clarified some for you :)

    ....ewwwwwwwww =P

Your review reminds me of all the times I've found kitty litter in my boyfriend's bed =( Sandy, gritty things definitely do NOT belong in the bedroom! Unless, of course, you and your lover are acting out some mermaid fantasy on a beach of "luxury sand". I also wonder what happens to stray grains that fall into the carpet and don't get vacuumed up... wouldn't that attract insects?
  • Contributor: Bulma
Ewwwwww indeed...I hadn't thought about the insects, but it being sweet would most definitely attract something. Not a nice thought at all. Kitty litter in the bed isn't very sexy either. Thanks for the comment, and I totally agree :)
