Massage me maybe, one more time

If you are looking for a starter massager, the Divine Scintillation offers nice vibrations at a fair price. If you're looking for more direct clitoral stimulation, you might consider a bullet or a more powerful massager; possibly even a massager that offers attachments. Either way, this massager is a nice teaser toy to add to your foreplay collection.

Use

The Divine Scintillation Massager by California Exotic Novelties is a fair massager, by all means. While using this device, I had to continually remind myself that while it can be used for external stimulation of the clitoris, it is billed as a massager. For this title, it works well. I think in terms of general use for me, it's stronger point of use would be during foreplay. A teaser. Its powerful vibrations are wonderful when utilized as an all-over body massager, but they aren't localized. Don't expect to reach the big O right off the bat with this handheld. Don't get me wrong, it does stimulate the clitoris and sends nice vibrations over the vagina; it also has a flexible head that allows the user to twist and angle the massager to find a position that works for your body. If you rely on more direct contact between toy and clitoris like I do, you might have to work a little harder to climax.

I think this toy works great both as a solo toy or in couple play, as I have done both. It's nice to please and tease yourself, but it's even better to share that with your partner.

This massager is an external toy and is not waterproof; stick to using it as an all-over massager or on areas of interest like the clitoris, nipples, or even the perineum. Do not insert this toy.

Material / Texture

This toy is made of ABS plastic (the handle) and TPR (the massaging head and neck). Although TPR material is used, it really looks more like silicone. If I hadn't been told the material used was TPR, it probably would have passed as silicone. I know a lot of people would pass on a TPR material toy but for this massager, I think it works just fine especially since it's not intended for insertion.

The hard plastic handle is sleek and smooth, so if you're using a lubrication be mindful to clean your hands before you fondle the handle on this one so you can keep your grip. The TPR part isn't bad either. The massaging head is also smooth but because of the structure underneath the TPR head, it is also firm.
I did not notice any smell coming from this toy.

Design / Shape / Size

I really like the design of this toy and I think it's just the right size. The smooth handle is contoured to either fit into your hand nicely or rest on your body, if you want to use this to tease the clitoris hands-free. It also has some pretty floral-like detailing on the sides. The only thing I don't like about the handle is the on/off button. Depending on how I was using the toy, I often found my thumb and/or forefinger wanting to rest on top of it. Since the button is on top of the toy, I sometimes had to reconfigure the position of my hand. This was tricky at times because the button (the only button, I might add) is easy to activate, especially during times of arousal when you might not have as much control over your movements.

The size of this massager is not cumbersome at all and it really makes for an easily maneuverable device. The flexible neck is also a high point. It makes up for the lack of localized vibration and pressure. Since it is so flexible, you can easily maneuver it into whatever spot works for you. I personally think this makes for a great teaser toy feature.

Here are some specs on size:
Total length – 7 1/2 inches (This included the curve of the toy)
Head and neck length – 2 inches
Head circumference- 4 1/4 inches

Functions / Performance / Controls

While I do like the flexible neck of this toy, it can be difficult to manipulate if you want to use this as an all-over massager. I found that the ridges and flexibility of the head make it kind of grabby when dragged across the body for an all over massager; might be better suited for people of the less hairy variety. I also used this on my neck, shoulders, and lower back part of my head. Oh man...that works. Like most people, I carry a lot of stress in those areas and this massager definitely helped work some of that out. When I used the Divine Scintillation in those areas, instead of using a continued motion, I picked one spot and let it rest there until I was sated. Again, trying to avoid the grabby feeling or an accidental hair pull. Ow, ow you're on my hair.

This massager offers three different vibration speed settings. Low, medium and high in that order. When you press the one operating button, it does make a very distinguishing clicking sound. While this might be annoying to some, I found that during use it just let me know for certain that I had, whether intentionally or not, changed my setting.

This toy could be heard when used under covers, but isn't very noticeable through closed doors. I did notice however that the vibration increased somewhat into a more rumbly sound once pressure was applied.

Care and Maintenance

This toy is fairly easy to care for. Since the head of the toy has larger ridges, lubrications and germs are less likely to hide out there. The neck however, has smaller ridges closer together so be mindful to give that area extra attention when cleaning. I found that toy wipes do a good job of getting this little massage vibe clean but you can also use warm water and toy cleaning solution or soap. This toy is not water proof so you can't put it in the dishwasher or boil it.

Since TPR has porous qualities, it's recommended that condoms are used if you plan on sharing this toy. Since I don't plan on sharing this toy, I did not use a condom on it. Since this toy is pretty small in size, I would recommend using a non lubricated condom if you plan to use one at all, and then add your own lubricant. Otherwise, having a slippery handle might making using this massager difficult.

The packaging of this toy recommends water based lubricants for “maximum pleasure,” but the EdenFantasys toy material rating on TPR suggests water or silicone.

Packaging

The massager came in a small box with an image of the toy on the front. The front has a flap held down by a magnet that opens up to reveal a viewing window that allows you to see the toy in it's plastic shell. While this feature of the packaging is generally unimportant, I thought it was nice to be able to view the toy before taking it out of it's packaging. I like to keep and store most of my toys in their original packaging, if it's practical. The small size of this box makes it easy to store.

A non-toy-specific instruction sheet on how to properly use batteries was included in the packaging, but it doesn't offer much else.

Some important notes found on the bottom of the box include, “Wash before and after each use. Remove the batteries when not in use. Always use a water based lubricant with this product for maximum pleasure.”
The box also clearly states on the bottom that this toy is made of TPR (tip and neck) and ABS (handle and cap.)

When I first opened the toy to insert the batteries (two AAA, not included) I found a small piece of paper inside the battery compartment that showed a diagram for battery direction (helpful to know which way they actually go.) When I tried to remove this, I accidentally mushed it further into the toy and had to remove it with tweezers since the compartment is pretty little. Keep this in mind when you're excited to try out a new toy.
