Not The Brown Sugar For Me

I found this product to be so so for what it is used for. It smells good and tastes good but it can be better in removing dead skin off the lips. By this I mean that the texture could be a little bit better so that it can be enjoyed more. This would be a start at trying to exfoliate dead skin from the lips it would not hurt to give it a go.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I really did not like the texture of the Brown Sugar lip scrub. It felt really gritty to me. It's as if you were to just go purchase a bag of brown sugar and you were to stick your hand in it and apply it right to your lips. It is very hard to get out of the container I tried to use my lip brush but that was a no go. I had to use my fingers and just the thought of it on them made me cringe.

It took me about a couple times just to get a decent amount out of the tube as it moved all over the place when you are trying to grab some out because of the thickness of it.

When I was done using it I wiped it off with a baby wipe because I did not want to keep it on any longer. I did notice that the scrub had taken the chapped skin I had on my lips off.

Here is a list of ingredients please check and make sure you are not allergic to anything on here.

Taste / Aroma

This product tastes like brown sugar but it does not have a pleasant taste when licked off your lips. So you may want to refrain from licking your lips a lot. This did not make me want to lick my lips like some of the other Not Soap Radio products.

The smell is very pleasant when you open the container it does smell a little bit stronger then when you apply it to your lips. It smells just like a bag of brown sugar when you first open it up.

If you did not like this you could easily wash it off with some soap and water, which I did once it did what it was supposed to do.

Performance

For me not being used to using a exfoliate on my lips this product did a great job of removing my chapped skin. I put it on let it do what it was meant and then took it off really fast with a baby wipe.

My lips did feel soft and much better than they did prior to applying the scrub. Maybe if I get used to it being on my lips I will be good to go. I have only used it one other time since the first time and that was again to remove chapped skin. I actually had to put it up from my child because of the taste and smell they wanted to keep applying it on their lips. They also had dry and chapped lips so it took theirs right off as well.

It could be a little bit thinner I think, with it being so gritty to me. It is not something I would want to grab right away to apply on my lips. I rather bite the dead skin off then apply this to them.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely

Packaging

This also came in a 1/3 plastic tube. On the top there is a black sticker that says Not Soap Radio with some lips and the name of the lip balm saying Exfoliate in big letters and under that it says brown sugar scrub. On the bottom white tub part there is a ingredients list underneath of it.

Some say this has leaked out on them but so far I have not had that problem but I do keep mines in a toy box and sitting upright and not on its side. It would be good to travel but if there is a linking issue you may want to put it into a zip lock bag or something to prevent it from leaking out.
    • Can be opened with one hand
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Travel friendly

Experience

Once I get used to the product being on my lips a lot more I will probably be ok with using it. Right now I only grab it when I need too and I try to be quick with putting it on and taking it off. I like what it is meant for but the texture is really over whelming for me. I am one who has not used a lip scrub before this was my first one. It just needs a little bit of working on.
Follow-up commentary
I still can't get over how gritty this is. I only use it now for getting the dry skin off my lips and that is it. I take it off as soon as I can feel that there is no more peeling skin on my lips. Then I go wash my mouth off with water.

This probably has a lot of brown sugar in it, but it's good it makes the lips really soft. Sounds like something I need to try.

Thanks for the review. I've never tried a lip scrub before. It sounds interesting. It might be nice for winter months when my lips chap easily.

You should try the peppermint lip scrub. That one tastes as good as it feels as you exfoliate away the dead skin!
