Yummy scrub

While this isn't the best product out there to help you have healthy, shiny lips, it's a nice place to start. It's much thicker than most lip scrubs I've used which makes it a bit hard to apply and rub, but it does a great job at removing dead skin. Overall, I would recommend this product.

Use

This exfoliating lip scrub is meant to do what the title implies; exfoliate your lips. This is usually meant to remove layers of dry, cracked, or dead skin to reveal the smooth, healthy skin underneath. After you reveal the new skin it's best to apply a nourishing lip balm.

It's not recommended that you exfoliate your lips every day, but I feel like 3 times a week is a good maximum. If you exfoliate more you could end up damaging your lips further, and that's not the way to get a sexy smile. You can also exfoliate right before a bit date to make your lips look a bit plumper and pinker than normal.

This product would be great for both men and women. Men may find that the scent is a bit feminine, but it fades after you wash your lips and I feel like the guys will appreciate that their ladies (or other guys) are more keen to kiss their fresh, soft lips.

The ingredients are as follows:

Sucrose, Glycerin, Amygdalus Dulcis (Almond) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Beeswax, Persea Gratissima (Avacado Oil), Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Tocopheryl (Vitamin E), Flavor

Of this list, I know that a lot of people have adverse reactions to gycerin. I also feel like coconut is a common allergy. Because of this, you should probably do a spot test on your skin before you use it on your lips in case you have a sensitivity you weren't aware of.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This lip scrub feels a lot like packed brown sugar, but just a little bit thinner and more stuck together. It's a bit difficult to get it out of the pot the first time, but after that you have a better place to start and get it out from. It's a bit tough to get a large amount out if you want to because it sort of squishes up against the sides.

I also feel like the thickness and consistency makes it hard to apply. It feels a lot like rubbing pure, moist brown sugar on the lips would; sort of crumbly, hard to spread, and very coarse. Once you get this spread out it stays in place fairly well, but until then it falls off fairly easily. Once you get it evenly spread out and in a thinner layer it gets pretty easy to rub around like you need to.

After exfoliating this leaves a tiny bit of a waxy residue, but it's not something that's easily noticed. It doesn't leave a greasy or oily feeling after use, which is a plus. It also doesn't leave your lips feeling slick, but they're smoother for sure.

Taste / Aroma

When you first hold this product up to your nose it smells very strongly of brown sugar. It also smells maybe a tiny bit like almond, but I only say that because it seems a bit nuttier than normal brown sugar, which I associate with cookie dough. After you get the first big scent it does fade into a bit of a chemical-y smell that I can only feel is left behind by the glycerin.

This tastes fairly sweet if you end up getting it into your mouth (something that lip scrubs are bound to do) it tastes sweet, but not exactly like brown sugar. It also leaves a bit of a waxy after taste, or rather after-feeling, in my mouth. It's not enough to deter me from using this product, just from eating it. Because of the ingredients you also should do your best not to ingest this lip scrub.

The scent or the taste of this lip scrub is easy to wash of with water, something that you'll want to do once you're done scrubbing away. If you just wipe this off of your lips you may still be able to taste it slightly or smell it, but again, those aren't bad things necessarily.

Performance

This scrub does a great job at removing excess skin cells and buffing your lips clean. Compared to the few other lip scrubs that I've used, this one is a lot coarser and harder to spread around evenly. It also takes a lot less rubbing to take off the top layer of skin, and it's easy to rub too much or too hard and end up with sore or damaged lips.

I use this by
1) Getting a fingerful out of the jar
2) Trying to get it at least sort of on my lips without it getting too crumbly
3) Trying to spread it onto my lips without making a mess
4) Rubbing slightly with my finger until it begins to dissolve a bit
5) Then rubbing my lips together so that I don't press down too firmly
6) After my lips seem sufficiently polished, wiping off with a damp towel

This leaves a slight waxy residue, but it does nothing to nourish or moisturize my lips. After doing this I put on an extra thick layer of my favorite lip balm (not from this same line) to help protect the new skin. It also makes my lips look a bit pinker and plumper than normal, which I really like.

If you really hate this or have an adverse reaction it comes off super easily with soap and water. If you use soap and don't rub it for too long you don't end up with the waxy residue. Depending on the weather and your body, this softness will last between two days and a week.

Overall, I like the results this product brings but I feel like the higher quality lip scrubs that are thinner and a little less course are a better deal. The difficulty of spreading this and how easy it is to buff TOO much is something that is a bit of a turn off for me.

Packaging

This product comes in a small, plastic tub. It's entirely made of smooth plastic and the body is white with the lid being black. The top has a brown sticker that tells you what the product is and what company makes it. On the bottom is a small white sticker that lists all of the ingredients.

This tub is .33 ounces, so you get a moderate amount for the price. It's a great size for tossing into your purse, but I have found that it does tend to leak a bit if you get it warned up at all. Because of this it isn't a great product to take with you on the go.

Experience

My experience with lip scrubs is as follows:
-When I got my friend one I used it before I gave it to her as a gift
-I stole one from my mum once, used it a few times, and lost it
-I used one at a party once
-This product

Because I have such little experience, I feel like it's hard for me to make many generalizations. One thing that I do know, though, is that the others were much easier to use than this one and were more like exfoliating face soaps than sugar.

This is a nice product and it makes my lips look pretty and plump, but being so hard to apply is a bit of a problem for me. I will be passing this onto a friend who may get more use out of it simply because I feel like I can't really appreciate it.

Even though this isn't for me and it's so thick, I feel like for people that like things like this it's a four star product. I wouldn't NOT recommend this lip treatment.
