You spite me!

This product taunts me. I got this body mist in order to make me smell like the lotion, but this and the lotion smell different enough that they really don't compliment eachother other than just smelling 'citrus'y. If the lotion was too soft for your taste you may like this spray better, but otherwise I wouldn't spend my money on it.

Use

This product is listed as an "all over dry oil perfume" on the bottle. I assume that they mean all over your body excluding your face and delicate bits because you want to use more specialized products on those, but this works well as a light fragrance to use on your arms, legs, or whatever other patch of skin you want to smell nice.

This isn't a good product to use as a lubricant and I wouldn't recommend it at all for use as a massage oil, but it would work well to use in the bath. You could just add a bit to your bath water and it would just help to soften your skin a bit and make you smell fancy.

While this whole line seems to be more intended for women than men, men are welcome to use this spray, as well. The bottle and the scent do seem a bit feminine, but if you just like smelling summery and fresh I know that no one on here would judge you for that.

The ingredients are as follows:
Cyclomethicone, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil (Colorless), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Fragrance.

As with all beauty products, especially those featuring the mysterious ingredient 'fragrance,' I would highly recommend doing a spot test on a small area of skin before you rub yourself down with this spray or add it to your bath water. You don't want that to be the moment you find out you have a sensitivity.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This oil is not thick at all and is about the same consistency of water. It mists very lightly, but if you get a concentrated amount on your skin it does tend to run and drip all over the place. Because of this it's best to spray lightly over a wide area and then use your hands to rub it in a bit.

At first, before it dries and your skin soaks it up a bit, it is very slick. It's not really an 'oily' type of slick like a massage oil, but I almost want to describe it as an 'alcohol' sort of slick. It doesn't make your skin glide any better, and it almost makes it feel a bit rougher when I rub it before it dries. Because of this it would make a terrible massage oil.

Once you spray it on and it evaporates/absorbs a bit it doesn't leave any type of residue on your skin. This is nice because often you end up with a gross residue left over from oil based product like this one. It does leave your skin a bit shinyer, but it doesn't feel greasy at all.

I also want to add that, even if you get it re-wet a bit, this is never sticky. This is important for me because I hate sticky products on my skin. It feels very natural once it is absorbed, and it is lighter than most lotions I've used.

Taste / Aroma

If you have smelled the Island Hopping lotion, I encourage you to go into this oil spray with an open mind. It smells a bit more like Pinesol or other citrusy kitchen cleaners, and it smells much less 'soft' than the lotion of the same line.

I personally feel like it smells a bit more 'chemically,' and also that it's a bit of a darker scent than the lotion. While I do like it and think that it smells nice, and I do enjoy wearing this perfume, I don't like wearing it with the lotion because they really are very different.

The other two Island Hopping products I've tried are more vanilla-y and lemon-y, and they have a bit of the verbana scent. I really like this because it smells clean and summery, but it also smells a bit innocent and soft. I tend to prefer scents like this. The spray is just more verbana and Pinesol for me, which DOES smell clean and summery, but it's much harsher and is almost like a different scent.

I can't vouch for the bath products in this line, and maybe if you use the soap, the scrub, this, the lotion, and the solid parfum you get more of a comprehensive scent that layers onto itself, but as it is this one just isn't what I wanted it to be. It fades about as quickly as the lotion on its own, but used in conjunction with the lotion and the solid parfum I found that this lasted noticeably about an hour and after 3 hours I could still smell it lightly on my skin.

Because of the ingredients this oil isn't meant to be ingested. If you do get it in your mouth it doesn't taste bad as much as it leaves a gross feel on your tongue. While it's not terrible if you end up licking it or something, it's best to avoid it.

Performance

Since this product is mainly sold as a perfume, I can say that it does its job fairly well. I can apply it on my skin and hair and it wafts well around me and is easily noticeable for about an hour. If I just apply it to my forearms it is much less noticeable, so I think that the best way to get this scent to last is to pray it lightly at the base of your hair.

As far as acting as an oil, this product is okay. It does leave my skin a tiny bit smoother and softer than it was before use, but lotion or a thicker type of oil product would work better if you're looking for something to help nourish and heal your skin. This does leave your skin looking shiny for about 20 minutes until it absorbs a bit, but it's not very noticeable. I also found that it evens out skin tones a tiny bit, but it's much less effective than some thicker oil products I have to use for that purpose.

You can reapply this every few hours if you really want to keep the scent fresh and strong, and when you reapply it it absorbs just as well into your skin as it did the first time. This may be different if you live in a less harsh climate and your skin isn't always dry, but I found that it lasts just as long and absorbs just as well reapplying it after a few hours.

Overall, this is an okay product to use as a perfume but if you plan to use it for the oil properties I would look elsewhere. It also doesn't help that in order to get a strong, lasting smell you have to invest in several other products to layer it with. This would be best for someone who doesn't like strong or lasting scents or gets headaches from lingering smells.

Here is me trying to show off the sheen on my skin after I first apply it.

Packaging

This product comes from Eden wrapped in a plastic baggie that is a safeguard against this leaking all over whatever else you may have ordered. I really appreciate the extra thought that they put into this, though the bottle didn't leak at all during shipping and hasn't leaked since.

On the front of the label is the name of the scent, the brand, and what the product is. On the label as well is a list of all of the ingredients, some basic instructions for use, and a description of what this scent is supposed to remind you of. It reads:
"Wheels up, the beach is calling. Banyons, reefs, palms, oh my... Ferry me, heli me, hydroplane me through the turquoise seas. Show me the impossible blue skies, glistening white sands- take me to exotic hideaways, bustling ports... Reality is subjective."

There is nothing at all on the bottle to give away that you bought this from a store that sells adult products, and I think that the whole set goes together great and would make an awesome gift.

Experience

A few months ago I got the Island Hopping body souffle to do a review on and I fell in love with it. I love the lemony smell and how clean it makes me feel, and I always appreciate the creamier undertones it leaves behind that are a bit vanilla-y. Since I got it I have been using it like a perfume.

When I saw that there were other products in this line that were intended to be used as a perfume, I jumped on them. I loved the idea of being able to smell like Island Hopping all day without having to reapply my lotion all the time. My conclusion? They don't work.

The solid parfum smells the same as the lotion, but it fades in about 15 minutes making it a lost cause for smelling all lemony and creamy all day. On the other hand this perfume is stronger and lasts almost as long as the lotion scent wise, but it's almost a different scent! I don't want to try using the soaps to scent myself, so if you are like me and love the lotion scent for the creaminess I would recommend just sticking to that product.

I am giving this three stars, but a lot of that is because I went into it thinking that it was going to smell like the rest of the line. I also wish that the scent lasted longer and that it was a bit more like the other oil products I have. Because of this I am giving it 3 stars, but if you hate scents that linger and you like harsher citrus smells this may be a 5 star product for you.

You done a great job describing this! It sounds awful. Lol. I hate the smell of lemony cleaners and from what you've said, this would not be something I'd like at all! Kind of high for what you get too. However, the way you described the lotion sounds amazing! I ordered one of the Dona products today and now I'm wishing I'd have gotten the Island Hopping lotion! Lol. Too bad they don't smell the same though. The lotion sounds so great, I'll absolutely have to try it now! Thanks for the super detailed review I love that you described the scent. That's really helpful and I've seen many reviews where the scented product wasn't even described and I love knowing a little about the scents before buying

It really sucks that this doesn't smell the same as the lotion, it's frustrating when that happens. Fabulous review though, I always enjoy them from you!

It sucks that it is a drippy spray, I hate sprays to where you have to spray then rub. Also that it does not smell the same as the lotion. Think I am taking this off my list. Thanks for sharing!
