Doesn't spread much love at all

We were looking for a spreader bar to expand our light bondage collection and this was a disappointment. It just wasn't versatile enough and the metal/polyester combination was slightly uncomfortable. The bar would be greatly enhanced if the length of the metal bar and circumference of the cuffs were more adjustable.

Use

This spreader bar is best used for those just beginning to experiment with light bondage and BDSM play. It is for use by a couple and will only work when the person being bound is either on their back, or standing and leaning over. Sportsheets, the manufacturer of this particular bar, has affordable and easy to use products for starting your experimentation.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material

The metal bar is covered in polyester material which is fairly standard for Sportsheets' bondage products. The polyester cuffs attach around ankles and wrists with Velcro and are easy to attach and loosen. The cuffs are comfortable but the bar is hard and a bit uncomfortable to be attached to.

Performance

As a lesbian couple, we were looking for a spreader bar to use in light bondage play. This looked good in the photos and we have had great luck with other Sportsheets bondage products. However, the spreader bar didn't live up to our expectations. The inflexible bar is just over a foot in length and doesn't give enough spread because the cuffs only fit wrists and ankles, not thighs. This could possibly work for straight penetration and is all right for toy play, but was useless and uncomfortable for oral sex. Overall, I would recommend looking at another, more versatile spreader.

Packaging

The spreader bar came in a light cardboard package picturing a woman with the bar cuffed to her ankles. Once out of the cardboard package, the bar is small and compact and could be discreetly included in a suitcase for travel, though I would not suggest taking the bulky outer packaging. Since the cardboard packaging is not needed for storage, we recycled it after removing the product.

Care and Maintenance

This spreader bar could be spot cleaned with a damp cloth, but should not need to be washed on a regular basis. It is possible that the Velcro could lose some of its 'stick' if submersed in water.
    • Easy to store

Personal comments

I would not personally recommend this product and we are looking for another spreader option to play with.
Follow-up commentary
We gave ours away to a straight couple we know and and they absolutely love it. It just wasn't really something we found a lot of use with as a lesbian couple.
