Not bad, but not sturdy enough.

This is not bad for a position aid, and there are so few products with handles on them, so for that reason I really liked this. However, I don't know why they would make this with handles that are NOT metal! Not bad, but didn't really "wow" us.

Use

This is definitely a couples product. I'm not really sure how one could make use of it alone. The box says that it is "Perfect for him or her". I am a female using it with my male partner. I saw this on EF and thought it looked perfect in lieu of a recent comment he made about wishing I had handles for him to grab onto. I figured he would really get a kick out of this, and it would give him something to grab onto and give him more control in certain postions, namely doggystyle. It seems pretty basic to use, just wear it like you would a regular belt. Put it around your waist make sure it's Velcroed on tight, simple as that.

I think it is travel-friendly because if it could easily be thrown in a bag or suitcase, if you were going on a trip you could pack it in with your clothing. I could probably even fit this belt in my purse.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material

To quote the box the belt came in: "Comfortable and Adjustable. Velvety soft. Padded and Double Stitched. Sturdy Hardware." I have an issue with use of the word "hardware", as I consider hardware to mean metal components. The handles are plastic, so they are more like..faux-hardware? The middle of the belt, where the handles are, is velvety black fabric on both sides. The rest is a black webbed fabric belt, with the Velcro for adjustability. The scratchier part of the Velcro is not meant to touch the wearer's skin, it is facing outward. The less rough Velcro side, is facing inward, but doesn't seem like it would be that rough against skin upon quick inspection.

I wouldn't say this belt is necessarily "discreet" looking. It doesn't look like something you would see everyday on someone walking down the street. However, upon putting it on and looking in the mirror, I could see myself wearing it with a certain outfit in public at some point...but that's just me.

Performance

This product is very easy to use, easy to put on, and easy to take off. It did its job; it allowed him to have more control. He had something to literally grab onto and be in total control of things. I would say it is a position aid/enhancer. We used it in a doggystyle position, and it went well overall. We have not done this, but if I were to lay on my back and wear this belt with the handles facing forward (on my tummy), and he were upright, he could grab onto them and that could probably be a lot of fun. It's not at all cumbersome, in fact, if it had more straps, we would like it more! It would stay put and feel more secure and comfortable to me that way.

Packaging

The box it was mailed in, the Eden packaging, is discreet of course. Here is the box the belt comes in (not very discreet at all!):

Back of the box

I'd like to note that it says "Sturdy Hardware" on the back, and call me picky but I would only call it hardware if it was metal. It has silver plastic handles, that are made to look like metal. When you take it out of the box, the belt is inside wrapped in clear plastic. The handles on the belt are wrapped in a thin protective foam.

Care and Maintenance

I think this should be easy to care for. There are no cleaning instructions on the belt or on the package, but this type of material could be cleaned off by hand washing or with a wet cloth. I'm not sure how the handles would hold up in a washing machine. I have mesh lingerie bags that I use for my delicate laundry (you can find a pack of them for about a dollar at most dollar stores), and I think that if I threw this belt in one of those it would probably be fine? I'm not 100% sure, as I haven't tried it yet, but I think the handles would be fine. They would be the only part I would be a bit worried about. The rest of the belt is fabric, so it would be fine.

As for storage, you can fold this up and put it in any drawer...or wherever you keep your EdenFantasys stash! ;) Not difficult to store at all. Depending on what sort of wardrobe you have, you might even just keep it in your closet.

Personal comments

Before putting it to use, the handles would be better if they didn't move, and also, horizontal handles would probably be best. Also, I give it one bee because the handles are sort of squeaky.

Experience

I have wide hips, about 38 inches. Upon just trying the belt on, it fit comfortably. It has Velcro, and is adjustable up to 52 inches (132 cm). Since it is adjustable, if I were to gain or lose a substantial amount of weight for some reason, I would still be able to use this. Though I have been about the same weight for many years, but for any number of reasons one's weight/measurements can change, and I realize that is something that many people face. It may not fit a plus-sized person very well, but I cannot say. I suggest going by your waist measurements, and deciding if you think it would fit well. I think it would fit most people well.

In using it, he put it on me in a doggystle position, and had the handles facing him of course, on my back. It gave him full control, which we both enjoyed. The velcro rubbed against my skin a bit while in use, but nothing too bad. However, immediately after he said "This thing is going to break". Apparently, he agrees that metal handles would be best suited for this sort of product. He also suggested that more than one strap would be better---more of a harness than a belt. I have to say, once he suggested that, I thought that was an amazing idea. That would definitely be an improvement on this product. It did slide up and down a bit as we were using it. Didn't make it any less useful, but if it stayed strapped firmly in one place that would be even better. He thought it was "titillating" visually and conceptually, but when actually put to the test it was "overall very flimsy". I will add that my boyfriend is a tall guy and he is very muscular, so I suggested to him that perhaps that is why he feels that way. He said no, the handles seem like they could break in his hands either way. He added that any couple using such a product, regardless of their shapes and sizes, probably wouldn't be able to go easy on a belt like this. Can't say he's wrong there!

After we were were done, he took it off me and started examining it. He put it around his own waist, and I thought that if I got on top, he could just as easily wear the belt and I could hold on to the handles, so in that way it is rather versatile.
Follow-up commentary
I don't like it more, but I didn't love it in the first place. Basically, this has kind of just been sitting around since. We don't get much use out of it. Not something that blew either of us away at all.

Thank you for the review. I haven't seen this yet.

Plastic hardware? I wonder if my Dom might break it.

Do you wear it around your hips or your waist? I'd think the waist, but you gave hip measurements. It is more comfortable around the hips?

A position and control belt sounds like so much fun. If the hardware were metal, I'd buy it immediately.

How does the hardware hold up over time?

So is it hardware, or software? great review.
  • Contributor: mistressg
Ha! Leatherlover, I'd have to say software.

P'Gell, I haven't had it long, only used it once so far, so I can't say how well it holds up over time. However, my honey insisted "This IS going to break" several times. I wouldn't count on it holding up for very long. Plastic handles on something that is going to get pulled on isn't a good idea.
I tried it on my hips, but he put it on my waist. I'd say it is better worn around the waist because that area is smaller, so it is less likely to slip around. My answer is wear it snug around the waist.

I agree with not liking it after a few uses. Mine was broken within a week, the non-metal hardware just wasn't up to the job.
  • Contributor: mistressg
EvilHomer, I'm not really surprised. My honey insisted it would break and not hold up. We never really used it again.
