Hold on, what? I thought this was lube?

Flavored lubes consist of two things: flavor and lube. Sadly, this stuff fails at both of those things. The lube part stays slippery for all of three seconds. Flavor? I don't know what they seemed to think "raspberry lime" should taste like, but cherry cough syrup wasn't what I had in mind. Plus, just like the slip factor, the flavor is out the door in a flash. Looks like I'm heading back to my JO after this.

Use

Lube and sex are often the best of friends. Friction can put a damper on the mood and make getting your groove on a little more difficult. No fear when the lube is near! Most of the time, though, they don't taste too great. Let's face it, it's hard to feel sexy when you've got a mouth full of icky chemical taste. How can we fix this? With flavored lube, of course?

Now, when it comes to stuff with a flavor, it's not generally the best choice out there for penetrative sex. You know, with the sugars and all things can get a little sticky and we all know what kinds of problems that stuff can cause for ladies. Luckily, this is one of those few flavored lubes that the ladies can get along with. There's no need to run to the bathroom and wash things off before getting down to business.

Okay, so what would you use a flavored lube for? In my experience, it's a wonderful addition to fellatio. A little lubrication during that act helps to get the ball rolling. Most of the time you can just stick to saliva, but it might not always be enough. Plus, sometimes the way things taste down there isn't always pleasant. Here's where your flavored lube comes in! Mouth-watering flavors can increase saliva and it helps to mask any of those not so delicious flavors. Perfect! This lube can also be used on the lady parts as well during similar acts. Usually lube isn't much of a concern during this, but the flavor aspect can be an added bonus. And if that wasn't enough, this lube also can be used during other foreplay activities where kissing, nibbling, and licking may be involved. Could it get any sweeter?

The ingredient list is rather short on this one: Water (Aqua/Eau), Glycerin, Proylene Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Flavor (Aroma)

Yes, there's glycerin in it but there's no need to hike your skirt and run for the hills. Unless you pick up infections like it's your job you should be fine. Again, if used externally you shouldn't experience any issues. The formula is hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested so it has a low risk of causing any adverse reactions. There aren't any added sweeteners, either, so you're safe there, as well.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I was surprised that this water-based lube was on the "light" side. It's relatively thin and watery. Now, this is usually fine when you're dealing with a silicone lube, but with water-based stuff it seems to mean that it may not hold its own when it comes to performance or lasting ability. That's the case here. However, considering it's more of a "foreplay" lube, it's not the biggest let-down. With that being said, being watery means that it can get messy, runny, and drippy. It's done it to me on a few occasions. It's best to apply it directly to the area you need it in to avoid all of that.

The texture is relatively light as well. It's very velvety and smooth, but not thick at in the least. Compared to "average" lubes, it's less slick due to how thin it is but it does get the job done. Another thing to consider here is that the flavor increases your saliva and such meaning you'd need less than you would if you were using it internally. Again, nothing too heartbreaking.

Surprisingly, it's only minimally sticky and it usually takes a while for that to happen. Maybe tacky is a better word?

Taste / Aroma

I decided to pick up the raspberry lime flavor because it's a nice departure from your usual strawberry/chocolate/cherry flavors you find in these sorts of products.

If you open the bottle and give this stuff a whiff it's like a kick in the face. It really doesn't smell too appetizing, either. It's way overpowering on the lime side and smells a bit like a margarita. I mean, it's a nice smell, but a bit much right out of the bottle. When applied to the skin you can smell more of the raspberry and it becomes a sweeter and less sour scent. Thankfully, it also loses a lot of the punch it has to it.

The flavor? Again, not what I had in mind. Bleh. It actually tastes like cherry cough syrup. How it does that I'm not sure. Even though the lube itself isn't syrupy, it tastes like it. It's even got that hint of a burn/tingle that that stuff has. If it's lightly applied to the skin it's not totally gross, but the flavor weakens a whole lot, thankfully. But wait, this is supposed to be a flavored lube, right? I'd rather actually have a flavor than be grateful that I can't taste it very much.

Performance

Okay, so it's really watery and thin and it doesn't taste too great. It must have some redeeming qualities, right?

After dispensing (in a messy manner) a bit into my hand I applied it to the area that was in need of a little assistance. It felt like it had dried up even before I put it on! There wasn't really much of a lube quality there at all. It sure was velvety, though. Maybe a little too velvety, actually. When in use the flavor is light, as is the slickness. Give it about three minutes and you'll forget it was even there. Really. Both qualities are gone in a flash. It did leave a bit of a strange feeling on my hands, too. Soft, yes. Sticky, not really. Almost powdery which is strange.

I guess the System Jo Flavored Lubricants I've used have set the bar rather high. Those actually feel like real lube (and Jo H20 is bad ass, anyway) AND the flavors are delicious and long lasting. Not like whatever happened here.
