I Love the Smell of Leather in the Morning...

The niche for this product is very specific, but if you're into the leather scene they I have no doubt you'll enjoy this stuff.
Good texture, leather-lovers would like the smell
Questionable ingredients, not condom-compatible
Rating by reviewer:
useful review
As I mentioned in my Boy Butter review a few months back, oil-based lube and masturbation cream are not really my thing. Being uncut, I don't generally need, or even like, lube when I masturbate. And since it is certainly not condom compatible, I usually would not have any use for it. However, the idea of the leather scent sparked my interest with this stuff.

I will say that I'm not wild about the ID brand in general. I've become a bit of a lube and toy snob over the last year, and prefer companies that take care to make their products body-safe. Since the container doesn't say "paraben free", I have no reason to believe that it isn't festering with the stuff. But since it's for external use only, how much damage could it really do? I also applaud ID for not stating that it would make a great anal lube, because I fill with rage whenever something that not latex-compatible is advertised for anal use.

I expected to open the container and have my room be completely overpowered by that artificial aroma of leather, but I actually had to hold the jar close to my nose to smell it. The scent is clearly that of leather, and it's quite realistic, but in liquid form it reminds me of shoe polish. Which may be a turn on for some people.

Although the ingredients are completely different, the texture of the cream was very similar to Boy Butter. And although I said I don't like lube when I masturbate, I must say I had a very pleasant experience with it. However, I would only recommend the leather scent to those who are REALLY into leather and get turned on by the smell of it. If you aren't into leather, I would seek out a different product.

I would have voted this higher if I wasn't so uncomfortable with the overall tone of voice and there was more information about the product. I also don't know what the texture of Boy Butter is, so a little more detail there would have been helpful.

Did you consider emailing anyone representing ID lubes to find out more information on the product?

Okay, this review kinda made me uncomfortable as well. If you do not like a brand, a product review isn't the place to voice those feelings.
Also, I didn't read your review on boy butter. So I have no idea what you said in that review.
Did you know that most people come across each review as a stand alone page, usually from the product page? It helps if you give complete full reviews, despite how repetitive it may feel.

There is a lot of information you can add! You gave it four stars, but you didn't really give reasons why you should try this product, with the exception that it smells like leather.

Sometimes I think we forget that a review can be just that... a short, simple review of whether we liked something or not and the key things that appealed to us.

All of the product info is readily available on the product page for those who want to find it so shorter reviews are spot on for those of us who don't want to read a repetition of what we've already looked at.

I disagree that most people come across the review as a stand alone page. Most of the reviewing community does, as they browse reviews. Most customers browse products and see the product page first, then move on to reviews.

In short, each type of review has its purpose and I think this one is just peachy.

I would definitely agree with Carrie Ann. Because the review was short, it was easy for me to follow along and gave me a pretty great idea of whether or not this is something I'd want to try. Thanks for reviewing it for us

I (being an avid motorcycle enthusiast) love the smell of leather so I think that this is a product that I would like to use on my hubby. Thanks for the review.

    Great review!

I agree with a couple people above, reviews are best when they're not formulaic.

I think that a lot of people do get annoyed when they have to have more tabs open or have to go back to the product page when a review doesn't include essential information about a product. BUT, that doesn't mean that it can't be a good review if it is short. I appreciate you being honest about your feelings about the company and you educated us on the fact that we should not assume things are safe. i write my reviews as if they were being used by the manufacturers and many of them are so mine often do include many details that are not found in a simple "this is my experience review". But that's the beauty of eden! We are write different and we all appreciate different reviews. If you don't like it, move on to the next review. No one's forcing you to read a short review if you don't like it or a methodical detailed one if you don't like it.
