Not so much play here

All in all Durex play doesn't live up to its name. There isn't much play here, just some mediocre water-based lubricant. Its consistency just makes this product not a very good buy.

Durex Play water-based lubricant is pretty much your ‘standard’ water-based lube. Its consistency is somewhere in between a thick gel and a liquid. It comes in a small 3oz. blue pump bottle that is very handy for travel, or even to throw into your messenger bag or purse.

The pump on the top can be rotated to either the open or closed position and does not move to open when inside a bag. When dispensed from the bottle, it makes a rather off-putting squishy sound and is very cold to the touch.

If applying directly to genitals, I would suggest you heat it up first with your hands. My partner doesn’t mind the cold sensation on his genitals, and applies it directly to himself rather than heating it in his hands first. It’s a matter of personal preference. Also, when applied directly to genitals, it heats up to body temperature within a matter of seconds.

As far as actual performance, the lubricant works well if you are already wet and have a decent amount of natural lubrication. If you’re not wet, the sensation of the lubricant is very strange as its thickness does not match the thinner consistency of natural female lubrication.

It also, because of its thicker consistency, feels as though it is dry and the initial penetration (with a toy or with a male partner) feels slightly forced. If used for manual stimulation of a penis or strap-on dildo it dries very very quickly, and can only be prolonged in its wetness if mixed with saliva.

This lubricant contains glycerin. So if you are prone to yeast infections frequently this may not be the best choice for you. I haven’t had a problem with this lubricant yet. But as soon as it runs out I plan on buying another lubricant, without glycerin, that will perform better. If you like mainstream brand lubricants as much as KY, this may be a good lubricant for you. It’s nothing special and there are many better quality lubricants on the market.
Follow-up commentary
Towards the end of finishing this bottle, I was getting mass amounts of yeast infections and irritation; which is something I have never been naturally prone to without lubricant. Just for this reason I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

This lube definitely doesn't get better with use, it just stays its mediocre self, and causes your vagina to complain all the time.

Thanks for the review! With so many good lubes out there, wasting money on an iffy one isn't worth it.

Thanks! And yes, I thought it to be sub-par to even really basic KY lube (which I also don't like).
