Anal lube original - water-based anal lube by Cal Exotics - review by Linga

As far as I'm concerned the most important requirement for anal lube is that it's thick and holds on tight to whatever it's put on, which California Exotics Anal Lube does brilliantly!


The Unflavoured California Exotics Anal Lube has the consistency of a thick hair gel and because it's a water based lubricant, it's safe to use on everything. I've used it on butt plugs, anal beads and anal vibes. I've only used it on silicone toys because at this stage I only have silicone toys to use anally, for obvious hygiene and sterilisation reasons or with a normal latex condom. I use the condom for those times when I want to use the same toy for both vaginal and anal in the one session. I have however, for the purpose of this review, tested it on other materials to see how well it sticks and it works quite well on most different kinds of materials like plastic, aluminium, stainless steel, TPR, pleasure skin, Vixskin and glass.
I found that when warmed it does lose some of its holding power so if you plan to use this lube on heated glass or metal you better move fast because it melts and becomes runny quickly. The only problem with the thickness of this lube is that it can be a little difficult to get out of the bottle and will take some vigorous shaking as the level gets lower but if you let it stand upside down, it comes out just like new.

The Cal Ex Anal Lube is a water based lubricant and contains several of the average ingredients found in lubes like:
Deionized water, Vegetable Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate-20, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Flavor, DMDM Hydantoin, Mathyparaben.
As you can see it does contain vegetable glycerin, which can cause infection in some people. So if you have previously had a reaction to glycerin products then I would steer clear but if like me, you don't have a problem with products that contain glycerin, then this is really a great lube.
The Unflavoured version of the Cal Ex Anal Lube has a mild sweet-ish scent and a quite pleasant sweet taste. It also comes in a Cherry Flavour which I haven't tried yet but can't wait too!

This lube comes in a 6 fl ounce clear bottle and has a blue pop open top. The top can get a little clammed up with excess lube but a quick wipe with a wet one or a damp cloth cleans it up really fast. The label on the bottle is NOT at all discreet. It has Anal Lube printed across the front in big blue letters and smaller on the back too. So it's probably not the best thing to leave out in the open or you could just remove the labels all together.

My experience with the Unflavoured California Exotics Anal Lube has been a really good one. It's thick and sticks really well. Has holding power and last for a decent amount of time. The lube washes off easily and cleanly which is great. I have to say when I need a good, thick lube this is the one I reach for.

California Exotics Anal Lube is still my go to bottle when I want some back door fun, and it's not going to change any time soon. The bottle is nearing the end, but I'll definitely be buying another. I simply haven't found another lube that works this well.
