Where's the chill?

The Ultra Chill lubricant did not measure up to my standards at all. This is the worst cooling lubricant I've ever tried. It doesn't give a chilling feeling at all, and it's too thin to convince me to use it as a regular lube.
doesn't have a strong smell
cooling effect does not work, too thin

extremely useful review

This product can be used for a number of purposes. It is a silicone lubricant that contains menthol. Another reviewer of this product is allergic to menthol and couldn't use it, so if that's a problem for you, definitely read her review and stay away from this product! I used this product for clitoral stimulation, which in my opinion would be the best use for a cooling lubricant. It's thin, so I don't think this is appropriate for anal penetration unless a thicker lube was used in conjunction with it. It feels very natural, so if that's the feeling you're going for this is a good lubricant. However, be mindful that silicone lubricant cannot be used with silicone toys. If you prefer a water based lubricant, you should find a different cooling lubricant. This could be used on male or female bodies.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

This lubricant feels really natural. I like thicker lubes even for clitoral stimulation, so I wish this was thicker. It feels really silky and is thin. When tipping the bottle, it moves very quickly, so it really is not a thick or viscous lubricant. It was hard to even get the lubricant onto me because it was so thin and just kept dripping off. My partner said it was like "trying to hold water."

This lubricant is also supposed to be chilling, but I didn't feel any chilling effect for longer than a few seconds. I have another lubricant not on EF that is by KY, but I was looking for something with a chilling effect that was vegan and free of the parabens and glycerin that are in the KY lube. The KY lube had a much more noticeable chilling effect though, so I think my search will continue. I felt like I was using a quality lubricant, but it just didn't follow through with its special effect. I used it during multiple sessions and in neither did I feel much. In fact, it actually took me way longer to orgasm than normally! The first time, when I only used this, my orgasm was just not as good. It was shorter and much less intense than my normal ones even with regular lubricant. The last time, I decided to try it again and it still wasn't working, so I went right back to the old KY lube I mentioned previously, and it worked wonderfully.

Taste / Aroma

At first it has no smell. When I rubbed it between my fingers for a few minutes feeling the texture, I could faintly smell something like the peppermint sugar cookies I like to bake. There is no strong taste or smell to this, though.

This product does not last long, but it does absorb well. It works as a nice moisturizer as I found out while rubbing it on my hand. It is easy to wash off. It was just so thin that it didn't really stick well. This could definitely not last a full session of any kind of penetrative sex, and it was not good enough for clitoral stimulation, which is what I used it for. We had to reapply multiple times. No matter how much we used, the cooling effect was barely there, if at all.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely
    • Not compatible with all materials
    • Reapply often

The product just came in a clear plastic bag with the 2 oz. bottle of lubricant inside. The lube bottle itself is not totally clear, but you can see how much is in it because it is translucent. It's a dark colored bottle that looks just like the picture that EF features. It's a really small bottle, so it would be fine to travel with, but I would definitely suggest placing it in a plastic bag first. It's a pump, so if pressed, lubricant will come out--and no one wants that all over their suitcase. It would take some reading to discover it was lube. With the dark bottle, I think it reminds me of aftershave or something, but perhaps that is just me. The darkness of it looks like stereotypical men's products.

Special Features

It supposedly has a cooling feature, but I could not feel it. Occasionally I could feel a little cold, but it was nothing like other cooling products I have tried. I really would not recommend this. Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't feel a thing! I think the cooling sensation is awesome, but this lube just did not deliver it at all.

It has menthol in the ingredients so I expected it to work, but I was really flat out disappointed with this product especially when comparing it--and using it right before--my KY cooling jelly. My hunt for a vegan, paraben free, glycerin free cooling lube will continue.
    • Cooling

As I said before, I really did not enjoy this product. I was really excited about it, so I am actually really disappointed. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I guess I will keep it around in case I run out of other lubricant, or give it to a friend who might like it more. It just can't stand up to other cooling lubes that ACTUALLY give a chilling feeling! If you already have a lubricant with the cooling effect that you like, don't bother with this one unless you're up for the risk.
Follow-up commentary
We have used this a grand total of 1 time since we exhausted ourselves trying to use it when I was reviewing it the first time. It still did not feel like it was cooling, and we used it because there was no other lube at my partner's house at the time. I bought a new bottlr of lube for my partner's place so we don't have to use this. During sex, whenever he reapplied it, he said, "I hate this lube" and always had a difficult time getting it from his finger to my clit without dripping it everywhere because of its thinness. We will continue to use this when nothing else is available because it's just that--better than nothing, and nothing more.

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear this wasn't working for you. I expected it to be really great since I have been using and loving the Wicked Aqua plain water-based lube for a while. I thought this would really do the trick. Sorry it didn't cool. Have you tried Intimate Organics' clitoral gel? It doesn't really give intense cooling, but feels amazing! I love the stuff. Perhaps that'd be more your cup of tea. Thanks for sharing though, I'll be putting off buying this for now.

kendra, I will definitely be trying it. I got another intimate organics lubricant recently (the defense kind) and it was awesome, so I will be trying more of their products. Thanks for reminding me that that product exists!
