High waist garter belt - garters discontinued by Coquette - review by Checkmate

I have always held a fascination and desire to see my wife wearing garter belts and stockings. This probably stems from my memories during the 60s of a glimpse of thigh above stocking tops, a brief view of an exposed garter strap, or the occasional subtle bump of the garter tab seen through skirt or dress. We both jumped at the chance to give the High Waist Garter Belt from Coquette a trip down memory lane and were pleased with the results.

This garter belt arrived in the usual Eden Fantasy plain, non-descipt box. Inside the box, the garter belt was found in a plastic bag on a nice lingerie hanger. The hanger was not necessary, but just a little touch which suggested that Coquette lingerie was maybe just a step above other brands my wife is accustomed to.

The belt contruction consists of a black lace covered lycra front panel, with side and back panels being black powernet. The side and back panels have some stretch, but not a great deal. Garment measures 8" long in both the front and back. It has plastic boning on the sides, both in front and back of the hips, which helps garment maintain its shape when being worn. Mrs. C usually has a comfort issue with boning in garments, but stated in this case it was quite comfortable. The back fastens with 12 hook and eye closures arranged in two rows. This garter belt also comes with two bows attached to the lower front where garter straps hook onto garment. Neither of us cared for them, so as they are attached with safety pins, they were easily removed.

The garter straps measure 6" long and stretch to 9". My wife would have prefered the rear straps to be slightly longer, but didn't think that was a deal breaker. One of the first things she did notice was that all the hardware on the straps were made of metal. This includes the top hook that fastens the straps to the garter belt, the adjusting clasps, and most importantly the garter tabs. She has often expressed her frustrations with belts that have plastic tabs which constantly keep coming unhooked from the stockings. Not once has see had this issue with the metal ones which this garter belt has.

As far as sizing, Coquettes' sizing appears to be dead on. My wife has a 34" waist, which the sizing charts stated was an XL. This size fits her perfectly. To date she has not worn it for any longer that 2 hours, but thinks she could easily wear it for 6 to 8 hours without any kind of discomfort.

The garment label states that the High Waist Garter Belt material content is 80% nylon, 20% spandex. Laundry instructions are to handwash only and hang to dry.

The only issue we have had to date with this garment came about while having sex. We both enjoy having sex while she wears garter belts and stockings so naturally it stays on. One garter strap did not seem to want to stay attached to the garment. Think this can be remedied by slightly bending the metal hook. Other than that, we found no positions which created any discomfot, binding, or rolling of material.

All in all, my wife is well pleased with this garter belt and will be looking at other quality items from Coquette. Wish we could find the matching bra as shown in the picture. As for me, I am equally pleased with this garter belt because it is... well... pretty damn sexy!
