Bust out the holiday cheer!

I love lingerie and Coquette is known for their quality. They didn't disappoint with this piece, but the sequins do cut into the skin and leave the body irritated. I don't fault the company for this, but it is something that I find annoying and don't see myself wearing this often.

extremely useful review
What it is This is part of the new Holiday Collection from Coquette. It is a black lightly sequined and sheer bustier with removable bra and garter straps. Due to the sheerness of the material, this is suitable just as a piece for the bedroom and not something that can be worn out in public without practically covering the whole piece up. It does have padding sewn in at the breast area to help with support, but it does not have any underwire. It has a large decorative sequin bow at the bust area, a line of sequins in the middle, and ruffles and sequins at the bottom.

The easiest way for me to hook all of the hook and eye closures was to have the hooks facing me, hook them all up, and then wiggle it around my body until it was in the proper position. It has 11 pieces of plastic boning that do not buckle or cut into your skin.

Sizes Eden Carries Eden offers this in small, medium, and large sizes. I have the small and my review will be based on that.

Coquette Size Chart

My current Sizes
122 pounds
32 AA bust
27" waist
32" hips

Given the following information, the bra area should be too big. In reality, the bra is a little loose in the cups, but it is better when worn with the included bra straps. The bra straps help pull up the material and I’m able to adjust the bra strap on the tightest setting and it allows me to not look as saggy in the bust area.

Measurements taken laid flat The front of the bustier laying flat measures 17” long and 13” wide. The back of the bustier has two rows of eighteen hook and eye closures that are ½” apart that allows you to adjust the band. At the smallest it measures 11” laying flat, or on the largest setting 11 ½” The sequin band in the center is 1 ¼” long. The bow is at the bust area and is quite large for a bow measuring in at 6 ½” long and 7” wide. The removable bra straps measure 9” at the shortest and 15 ¾” at the largest. The removable garter straps measure 5 ½” at the shortest and 8 ½” at the longest.

Material and Care According to the tag this is made of 82% nylon and 18% Spandex exclusive of the trim. It is best to hand wash this separately, hang to dry, do not bleach, and do not iron. I personally hate hand washing my lingerie, but this does have sequins so it is best to follow the directions with this one.

Craftsmanship The only complaint I have about this is the sequins are scratchy and leave little red marks on my breasts where they’re bothering my skin. The sequins are sewn through the padding area at the bust and some of them have sharp edges. Other than that, the material is very sturdy and the quality is what I expect from Coquette. There was no loose stitching or frayed edges.

Packaging This shows up in a clear plastic bag on a black padded hanger. On the bustier is a cardboard tag with a model wearing the outfit and basic information regarding the style, size, and UPC information.

Experience
Overall the piece is nice, but the scratchy feeling of the sequins leave something more to be desired. I don't plan on wearing this as part of my normal lingerie rotation. I'm going to give this 4 stars, because it really isn't the fault of the company that the sequins are less than perfect to be worn as lingerie.

I had read the comments on the product page about some didn't like the middle band of sequins. Since I don't plan on wearing this that often, I decided to cut it out so you can decide if you like it better with or without. It was not complicated to detach all of these sequins at all. I grabbed a pair of sharp scissors and cut the seams and pulled them away. The sequins in the middle are very stretchy as it was, so I didn't have a hard time doing this. After I finished, I cut away any loose strings that may have been left over.

Follow-up commentary
The sequins cut into the skin too much and caused irritation. I couldn't get past the uncomfortable feeling so I do not wear it like I had planned.

It's a shame that once you cut away the sequins, there was still a band around the middle - I think that it would have looked perfect without one. Still, I suppose that they needed it for the support. Cheers!

Love at first sight, has turned into sadness. It's far to bad that this cuts into the skin, and it's not made for bigger women. So not helping it sell to me. To bad, I loved this one. Thanks for reviewing.

Thank you all for reading it. I wish it didn't have that band either. The cutting into the skin gets me.

Thanks for the review. It is unfortunate that the sequins presented issues.
