Crotchless pantyhose - hosiery by Leg Avenue - review by Jul!a

There wasn't much to the packaging, at least nothing out of the ordinary for Leg Avenue stockings. These came in a black cardboard sheath with a picture of a model wearing them in black on both sides, and a little cutout window that lets you see the color inside. It also comes with materials (100% Nylon), and care instructions (hand wash warm, drip dry), although I think they'd be ok in the washing machine. However, run them through at your own risk.

These are a one size item, which to the packaging states you should be between 90-160 pounds. Visiting the sizing chart gives you a slightly more comprehensive guideline of size 6-11, waist of 23-29", and hips of 34-40". I'm about a size 6, 5'2", have about a 29" waist and measure about 34" around the top of my hips and 38" around my butt. I have an inseam of about 29". These visibly cut in a bit around the top of my hips, but if I moved the top so that it was more of a high waisted item it was much less obvious. No matter which way I wore them, they were comfortable. The crotchless portion ended at the very top of my thigh, which is about 21 1/2" around, and there wasn't any digging in that I could really see.

The design is pretty simple. Take any ol' pair of nylon pantyhose you have, and remove the crotch portion. You've got about 2 1/2" in the middle of the front before the crotch goes missing. The control top portion goes down about 10 1/2", with half an inch on the bottom side of the opening, before turning into the pantyhose. Across the waistband is about 9" laid flat, but stretches up to about 17". There is no backseam or tag, so there's no "front" or "back" that you have to stick with. There's also nothing in the way of extra reinforcement in the toe area except the seam that physically closes the foot. It's also a tube shape, and doesn't have formed feet.

The material is soft to the touch, and feels fragile. It's definitely prone to catching on anything with a snag, so you'll want to make sure that your nails are free of any snags; even chipping nail polish. Fortunately, while it's pretty prone to snagging, it doesn't seem to be pretty prone to running. There area few pilled areas that are hardly noticeable after one wear, but nothing has run yet. You could easily destroy them if you tried, but they won't just destroy themselves with slightly cautious behavior while wearing.

The first time I wore these out, I remember seeing a few runs and pills when I got home. But when I went to write the review on them, I couldn't find any of the damage I remembered and they had been floating around my room the whole time. I had fun wearing them out as "regular pantyhose" and then coming home knowing there was a naughty surprise for my husband, even if it felt weird that my crotch was the only part of me that wasn't covered up by the nylon while we were out at dinner. I liked that they gave my legs a softened appearance without being obvious that I was wearing much of anything. For the price, it's not a big deal to replace them every few months or so.
