Loose Rhinestones and Uneven Boning

The Tres Sexy Corset and G-String by Oh La La Cherie is beautiful with the rhinestone accents all over the front of the corset. Sadly, these rhinestones are loose and have already started coming off. Eventually you'll be left with a corset with patches of rhinestones missing, making it look awkward. It really is a shame because I love the fit of the corset, it's comfortable, and the rhinestones make the piece look gorgeous.

extremely useful review
I loved the Tres Sexy Corset and G-String by Oh La La Cherie as soon as I had seen it. The corset is available in sizes S-L with a plus size option. The corset is also available in the colours red or black. When I had first seen the corset, I considered purchasing both colours immediately. I didn’t though because I was unsure of how the size large would fit me. I typically wear a size XL comfortably but this corset isn’t available in an XL. I had to choose between size large and the plus size option. I went with large because I’d rather the corset be a bit tight than a bit baggy. I ordered the red coloured corset.

The corset arrived on a plastic hanger, within a clear plastic bag. The only text on the bag was the company website and logo. Attached to the corset was a cardboard tag stating the company name, product name, size, company website, and had a photo of a model wearing the corset. The included hanger is excellent to use for storing the corset when it is not being worn.

The product page states that the material composition to the corset is cotton, polyester, and spandex. Sadly, I am unable to give percentages for the material composition because it was not listed on the packaging, nor is it on the tags inside of the corset. I also looked for this information on the company’s website but can’t find it anywhere.

There is absolutely no stretch to the material of the corset, though width can be added by adjusting the lacing down the centre back of the piece. The g-string waistband is elastic so it’s quite stretchy. I’ve taken measurements of the outfit laying flat, unstretched. The lacing down the back was done up the way it had arrived. It arrived with approximately a ½ inch gap between the lacing. If you need additional measurements, please send me a message and I can get them for you.

G-String
Waistband unstretched: 13 ½ inches
Waistband stretched as much as I could: 20 inches
Widest part of material that covers your front area: 5 ¼ inches

Corset
Chest (armpit to armpit) 18 inches
Length down centre front (including ruffle trim): 16 ¾ inches
Length down centre back (including ruffle trim): 12 inches
Ruffle trim along top and bottom of corset: 1 inch

The corset has metal hook and ball closures down the centre front of the piece. There are 6 hooks in total. There are two metal strips that run vertically down the front of the corset beneath the closures. The rest of the boning is plastic. There are 12 boning pieces in total; 4 down the front, 6 down the back, and 1 on each side of the piece. There is lacing down the centre back of the corset, which can be adjusted to add width to the piece if you need it (which I certainly do).

The corset is not sheer whatsoever and the fabric is rather thick so you do not need to worry about nipple outline showing through the material. The chest area of the corset does not have any padding or underwire and the g-string has no lining in it. The corset has ruffle trim running along the top and bottom of the piece, and the trim runs around to the back of the corset. There are no loops on the inside of the corset for garter straps or shoulder straps. What I really loved about the look of the corset though was the rhinestone accents. I’m a huge sucker for all things sparkly!

When I seen the rhinestone accents in real life, I was rather disappointed. The first thing I noticed was that there were rhinestones stuck to other areas of the corset where they shouldn’t have been (at the top of the ruffle trim, etc). Below is a photo of just one of the few lone rhinestones at random places.

At first I figured that the manufacturer might have just added too many rhinestones to the piece, but then I realized that the rhinestones actually came off really easily and probably happened during shipping. I wanted to see how easily the rhinestones came off so I gently picked at one of the smaller rhinestones. A few seconds later, the rhinestone was off the corset and on my finger. This is NOT okay with me.

I noticed an uneven pattern to the rhinestones at the top area of the corset, beside the plastic boning. I decided to take a photo of it.

On the left hand side of the photo below, you can see that right beside the boning (I’ve circled the areas I’m talking about), there is plenty of rhinestones. On the right hand side of the photo where I’ve circled, you can see that a patch of rhinestones seems to be missing. When I was looking closer at this area, I realized that the boning placement is actually what is uneven. The distance between the bones on the left hand side is approximately 2 ¾ inches wide, while the distance between the right hand side bones is a bit more than 3 inches. While this isn’t a huge difference, I figured it’s worth noting.

When I went to put the corset on, I had to do it by myself because my partner wasn’t around. I loosened the lacing at the back and tried to fit it around my body so that I was able to do the hooks up at the front of the corset. If I still needed more width, I’d adjust the lacing down the back a bit more and try again. I’d do this until I was finally able to do the hooks up. I had to widen the lacing until there was a 4 ¾ inch gap at the back. There was still quite a bit of lace to add more width if needed.

The length of the front of the corset worked really well for me. It covered my tummy and sides really well. The back of the corset is quite short though, but I’m just happy the front covers so well. I found the top of the chest area to sit on an angle away from my body. I wear a C cup and the top of the corset did not want to sit flat/closer to my body. If the corset had shoulder straps, this would have been avoided or minimized greatly.

I really wanted to dislike this corset because of the quality of the rhinestone security but when I tried it on, I loved the way it looked on me. The corset is also comfortable and the ruffle trim is a thick material so it doesn’t irritate or scratch the skin. Below are a few photos of the corset on me. The first is a front view, second is a side view and third is a back view. Please excuse my pyjama pants.

Neither the packaging nor tag in the corset states the care instructions. I thought it was really odd that the tag didn’t state the material composition but no care instructions? Really?! With the rhinestones being so fragile and loose, I’d suggest hand washing the corset and letting the piece hang to dry. I’ll update in my follow up review how the hand washing went once I do this.

I’ve given the corset a 3 out of 5 because the main feature of the corset (the rhinestones) are too loose on the material and will eventually fall off. I love the way the corset fits/looks on me and will probably wear it until the rhinestones start looking patchy because of falling off. If only they took more time to secure the rhinestones, it would have been a perfect 5 out of 5 for me.
