Beer guy - costume discontinued by Coquette - review by Beck

The beer guy costume is one of the few Male Costumes available on EdenFantasys. If you or your partner is looking for a male costume for Halloween or another event, this could be your costume. It comes with a shirt, shorts with attached suspenders, stockings, and a hat. The costume doesn't really have sex appeal, but if you are looking for a humorous male costume, the beer guy is surely that.

***My costume was missing the hat. So, this review won't contain information about the hat. It was out of stock in the size I needed, so I didn't want to send it back for a cheap prop.

Material And Care

The shirt is made of 90% polyester and 10& Spandex. The tag recommends hand washing only, but no drying instructions. I will recommend you had wash and line dry it, because the material feels delicate. The material is super stretchy, but it's also clingy. It has the feeling of that of bathing suit material. Against the skin, it's really silky and comfortable. You won't sweat in this shirt, because the material is breathable. The more stretching you do to the material, the more see through it gets. You have to hold it up to the light in order to actually see through it.

The shorts aren't marked with a tag for the material or the washing instructions. So, I headed over to the Coquette website to see what it says. Their website labels these shorts as velvet. I have to agree that they are some kind of velvet material. To the touch, they feel fuzzy and soft. This material doesn't breath very well, so you could sweat in it. However, at least they are shorts, So that should help keep you cool. I would recommend you hand wash these and line dry them as well. The Coquette website gave no clear washing instructions.

The stockings are made of the left over material from the shirt and the shorts. They are mostly the 90% polyester and 10% spandex, but it has 3 strips, at the top, of the velvet material.

Design

The shirt is white with 3 black buttons down the front. These black buttons are just for show. They aren't functional. It has regular T-shirt sleeves and has a collar that folds down. There are 3 small snap buttons to open the shirt into a V neck. You can't see these buttons from the outside because they are stitched inside the material. These are the only functional buttons. So, you have to slide this shirt over your head to put it on. The shirt is meant to appear to be a button up T-shirt, but it's not.

The shorts start off with two straps for the suspenders. These cross in the back and have a band in the front that has some colorful stitching. Above this band are metal buckles, one on each strap. There are two hole placements for this buckle, but the buckles don't actually adjust anything. On the front, the suspenders meet the elastic band with two gold buttons. These buttons have a shield with lions stand around it, as decor. The shorts from here are normal. They are lined with white stitching. They also have fake pockets.

The stockings begin with an thing white band, then a thick green velvet band. This repeats twice. So, there are 3 stripes of green velvet that are separated with 3 thins white stripes. After the final velvet stripe, the white polyester/spandex material continues to the toes. There is a seam from the point of the toes all the way up the stocking. This makes the stockings cheesy!

Quality
In my opinion, Coquette could have done better. The shirt seems fine except for non-functional buttons on the front. These are hanging on by a thread. They will fall off soon. The shorts are probably the best item in the costume. However, it has flaws. The buckles are made the cheapest way possible. The edges are sharp and the metal is super thin like tin. The decorated buttons are hanging on by threads, so they will fall off too. But the shorts are otherwise great. The stockings are really flawed. It's almost like the person sewing the costume said " Wow, we have all this extra material, what should we do with it? I know! Let's make stockings!." They didn't have the stripes lined up well before they stitched in the seam. The material is overlapping each other in places too. They could have done better. The stockings just seem like they are a last minute idea that was poorly executed. I have attached some images of the quality issues.

Experience
My husband wanted this costume to wear to work for Halloween. And I wanted it for my Sinful Sunday Image on my blog. (***Adult content!) We didn't find anything sexy about this costume, but it surely is humorous. Humorous matches my husband. We weren't looking for a sexy costume. We are pretty pleased with the costume. It does have some quality issues, but overall it's pretty good.

The sizing is wonderful. Even with the S/M and L/XL sizing, it will still fit a majority of men because of how stretchy everything is. It fits my partner and there is plenty of room for larger sizes.

Overall
I am giving this costume 4 out of 5 stars because it's decent. The only issues were some basic quality issues. Otherwise it's a perfect costume.
