Black cross back dress - mini dress discontinued by Espiral - review by Midway through

Let me first state that I got an XL size of this dress. I am a bigger girl, so I knew that I would not be able to wear this as a dress out in public, but that I could probably pull it off as a shirt while clubbing, and a naughty dress for in the bedroom. It turns out I was right in my choice. As a dress in the bedroom, it barely covers my butt, however this is not a bad thing. It's quite flattering! I have worn it as a shirt out clubbing, and just pulled it down over my pants and rolled the bottom up a bit. It was still flattering! This dress dips extremely low in the back, and if you are wearing panties under it that sit higher up, they may be visible.

Sizing & Fit

This runs true to size, perfectly so, and will stretch to fit slightly larger, as you can see by my measurements listed below..

The chart says an XL should measure as such:
Bust: 40"
Waist: 31"
Hips: 40"

I am actually bigger than this measurement. I am 44" bust, 32" waist, and 46" hips. This dress still fit wonderfully. I would say that it could even push another inch above my own measurements, and still be flattering. Beyond that it would probably be too tight and it would not look nice. It is fairly easy to slip in and out of, whether you do it over your head or slide it over your hips. Either way is quite simple and there is no struggle in getting this on or off. This makes it convenient for the bedroom, when your partner wants to ravage you. Also, I'm 5'11" and I'm mostly legs.. so it's not a length dress.

Material

The dress is made of a combination of polyester and spandex. If stretched tight, it will be see-through to an extent because the material is thin. It has a soft and non-itchy feel to it, and it doesn't make me uncomfortable to wear it for extended periods of time. I wore it clubbing for several hours with no issue. This material will lay against your skin and it will show lines. If you're wearing anything underneath, such as undergarments, you will be able to tell because the material grabs. My suggestion is to wear nothing under it if you're going for the bedroom look, and if you're going to be leaving the house, wear a very smooth bra that lays against you well. If you wear it as a dress out, you'll want to find no-line panties. If you wear it as a shirt, don't worry about it because you can bunch it up to make it look normal where it lays over pants.

Seams & Sewing Work

This dress is actually well sewn. I did not find any threads hanging or any loose ends on it when I pulled it out. Even with me wearing it quite frequently, it hasn't shown signs of wear. The straps are thick and have well sewn seams to them so there is no fraying or tearing on the back straps or around the neck. This actually looks and feels like a quality made dress. There's a tag sewn into the side, but it doesn't bother me during wearing it. I believe it is extremely easy to remove should you decide it is annoying.

Packaging

The dress comes in plastic packaging with a cardboard overlay that displays the dress on a model. It also shows available colors and a few other dresses. You could use this packaging to store it if you like, but I just use a regular hanger and put this in the closet with my other dresses.

Care

It is easy enough to care for; all you have to do is throw it in a lingerie bag to wash on a gentle cycle in the washer, and let it drip dry. You can also choose to hand wash this if you do not own a lingerie bag. I've used the washer for mine, gentle cycle with cold water. It has held up quite well so far.

All in all, I think this is a fabulous dress. It is worth having for clubbing or for a bedroom jaunt. I'm giving it a 5 star vote, because it is versatile and can be worn for a longer period of time. The material is just so comfortable!
