Sheer contrast cuban heel stockings - stockings discontinued by Coquette - review by ~LaUr3n~

I love all things vintage vixen. It's hard to find nylon thigh highs that are done like they were back in the day -with real shape the the thigh, calves, ankles, and feet. Women lined up for these and waited for hours when they were introduced in the 40's. This pair gives great tribute to that and will form fit women better than just the tube stockings that are so common now.

*Overview:

This pair of stockings is from Coquette. They are fully fashioned and come in OS. The color is black and nude.

*Material Excellent: Durable, Varied

Again, for some reason no materials are listed on the packaging and there is no tag. I believe they are made of 85% nylon and 15% spandex. I believe this because they feel, look, and stretch just like the other pair I have that does have materials listed. I mentioned this about that pair as well, their quality parallels that of the $18 tights I had to wear as a dancer (traditional, not erotic by the way!). The nude parts of the stocking are very soft and sheen. The black parts near the feet and heel seem to have a higher "thread count" and are silkier and not as grainy. The very top of the stocking actually feels more like a sock and is thick.

*Design/craftsmanship: Awesome

These stockings are FF which means they are fully fashioned. They are constructed and sewn laying down and completely flat. They are sewn up the back giving them their trade mark back seam. They also have distinctive parts of the stocking shape. The shape pays attention to the feet ankle, calves, and thigh instead of just being like a large tube sock with no definition.

The band has two thickness and tones. The top part is thicker and has two layers. It is about 1 1/2" tall and then the thinner part below is about 1 3/4" tall. The back seam is very thin and does not protrude much. They are thicker than others I've seen at about 1/8" thick.

The feet are very well constructed and formed. The closed toe portion is the same thickness as the lower part of the black band at the top of the thigh and the back of the heel. It's also the same as the backseam. It is ~1 3/4" long which will be invisible once slipped into most heels, especially vintage styles. The bottom of the feet are also reinforced underneath. The heel widens the reinforcement and then narrows into.

These actually are not Cuban heels. Cuban is a rectangular shape at the back. These are actually French Pointe, also known as European pointe.

*Cleaning/care/storage: Hand wash, bi-fold

The stockings come folded on a cardstock. This is slide into a cardboard bi fold and then slid into a resealable plastic bag. Hand wash them in cool water. Lay flat to dry. Don't iron.

*Sizing/Application:

These come in an OS. According to the size chart that will fit sizes 4-14. These do feel a little short and won't stretch as well for the larger sizes. This helps with their durability, however. It also helps with sizing. Since these can't be pulled up as high as other stockings, they are worn lower and allows fuller figured ladies to wear them as well. I'm wearing them where my thigh is about 21 1/2" around. That's where they feel most comfortable. I can pull them up but they can start to cause a muffin bump the higher you go. They aren't meant to be that high. They are also perfect for the garter look. I found that even though these don't feel too tight, they can roll without garters if you're wearing them for long term. My size 8 feet fit in the molded feet nicely and the ankle molds perfectly.

Note that it does take some patience to get these on without crooked seams!

*BEST Fit Chart/preferred sizes:

Height: 4'11"-5'7" (any taller and you WILL need garters for sure)
Best Thigh circumference (for where they sit about 6" or so above the knee): ~18"-23"
Max: 25" Will likely roll without garters




*Conclusion:

I am giving these 4 respectable stars. Because they roll, I've got to give them 4. They are a little shorter than I expected too. The quality is awesome, though. If you've never tried stockings like this. You have to!
