Santa's little helper - costume discontinued by Coquette - review by Timaree

One afternoon I came home to find my roommate had purchased a present for my cat: a bright red velvety Santa outfit complete with hood. The sadistic cat torturers that we are, we wrestled my pudgy little feline into the suit and took a number of adorable holiday pictures upon which my Facebook friends remarked giddily.

When I received this Santa's Little Helper getup in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was pretty much the same size as the one for my cat.

I was initially unsure about what size to pick, since anything small enough to fit snugly would inevitably be super short. And sure enough, my frame slipped into the tiny little outfit perfectly but little was left to the imagination by the length. If you intend to wear this, be sure to also purchase some adorable underwear as well, since it will be a fully involved part of the ensemble, visible to anyone nearby.

The ultimate effect of it was sheer genius: cute but sexy, more modest than even the most demure swimsuit yet still skanktastically sexy. Paired with some jewelry and fishnet hose, it made for a perfect costume. The colors were vibrant, the fabric was comfortable and it kept me surprisingly warm considering its size.

There were some pratfalls to the Santa's Little Helper, however. The boa material lining the top and bottom is not of the highest caliber and will likely only last one real wear before dramatically losing its beauty. If you intend to simply pull on the outfit and stand around calmly for awhile, you'll be fine. However, if you intend to dance or run about, the boa's almost certainly going to come apart: mine certainly did.

The feathers fell off sporadically, leaving me with random bits of white fluff on my otherwise red dress that I had to pick off periodically. The boa along the top also broke without much provocation, resulting in it needing to be tucked into the elastic banding for the remainder of the evening.

It's certainly intended for brief and/or gentle use, but the Santa's Little Helper does the job of making its wearer look sexy. If you've got legs to show off, this is the way to go.

It's been about a year and, while I don't expect to the boa material at the top to survive too many more wears, I still adore this piece. It fits superbly, looks amazing, and is as comfortable as possible for something so sexy. It requires the occasional adjustment to keep the top up, and the bottom down, but the material has held up well and with another application of white boa material, it could last years.
