The toy has a soft texture, but it's still hard. The texture makes it very slippery if it is wet whatsoever. Now that can be a good thing or bad depending on your preferences. The vibrations are a lot stronger than you are led to believe though. I think this particular toy is rated at a 3 for vrooms (vibrations) and a 4 for bees (noise). I'd say it's more like a 4 for vrooms, though I do agree it's pretty loud. I don't know about you all but I live in an apartment and the walls are thin. Oh, and both my neighbors are guys. I don't really like to advertise what I'm doing. It's still loud even when I cover up with a pillow and a couple of blankets.

It's not the easiest to get the best angle with this toy for me. It still does the job but my hand gets pretty sore from being in an awkward position. It does seem to take slightly longer with this toy than some others but it's not a significant amount of time. The toy is waterproof, I've only tested that aspect while cleaning it under running water. It didn't seem to have any ill effects though. It is very easy to clean. You can either clean it with toy cleaner of some sort or soap and water. I just wash it up with some anti-bacterial hand soap and water. Even when very messy, it comes clean easily.

The speed is controlled by a dial at the very base that has little nubs on it. It is very easily controlled and doesn't accidentally get turned.
