Elation - traditional vibrator by Vibe Therapy - review by Allison.Wilder

The box that Elation by Vibe Therapy comes in says that Elation is 'a chic waterproof personal vibe to soothe away all your stress', but it's really so much more than that. It's a clitoral stimulator, it's bendy enough to be a g-spot vibe, it's a massager of sore muscles, it's an incredible tease and it's my new favorite toy. The only thing this isn't, is an anal safe toy because it's lacking a flared base.

Elation feels great against the skin and has deep vibrations so it feels even better when rubbed against the chest, nipples, tummy and inner thighs. It can be used for foreplay or during sex, just rub it anywhere you appreciate vibration and enjoy!

This could easily be a first toy for a beginner or a great addition to any experienced user's collection. With 7 delightful speeds and functions, there's something to satisfy just about anyone.

It's really quiet, so it can be used in any living situation and it's waterproof so it's great for showers and bath-time, too.

Elation is made of, according to the package and the Vibe Therapy website, hygienically superior medical grade silicone, earning it a 10 out of 10 on Eden's Material Safety Guide. It's also made of a food-grade material and is hypo-allergenic, latex-free, non-porous and phthalates-free.

It's silicone, so it's definitely a sticky material. If there's lint or dust nearby, Elation is going to act like a magnet and attract it all. A quick wipe down before use will make this a non-issue.

It's completely smooth in texture, save for a slightly indented groove on either side for gripping purposes. It's squishy to the touch, firm at the tip and the base is flexible throughout the center to better fit a variety of shapes, which is great since every body is different and every person has different needs.

It's smooth so it's good for beginners who don't yet know if they'll like something with a lot of texture and it's great for advanced users who enjoy a texture-free toy.

It's completely tasteless and odorless, even straight from the package.

Elation is a really nice-sized toy. It measures in at 6 3/4 inches, with just under 5 of those inches being insertable and it's just shy of 4 1/2 inches in circumference. It's not an intimidating size and it's not too small, either. It's just a nice, average size.

It's hard to explain exactly how Elation is shaped, but I'll try. It starts out a little thicker at the tip and gradually tapers to just a sightly smaller center and gradually flares back to the size of the tip at the base.

The indented grooves on either side start at the base and gradually flare out towards the tip of the toy, coming to a (non-sharp) point at the very center of the tip. The grooves act as a grip to keep it from slipping out of your hands, which is great as this thing can get a little slippery when lubricated.



It has a really slight upward curve at the tip and it's really bendy in the middle, so not only does it make for a great clitoral stimulator, it's also an unexpectedly awesome g-spot toy.



If someone were to stumble upon it and had any knowledge of sex toys, they would easily be able to figure out that this is a vibrator so it's not exactly the most discreet toy in that sense, although it can easily be stored in a purse or bag for travel purposes and none would be the wiser.

Elation is a multi-speed, multi-function vibrator powered by 2 AAA batteries and controlled by two push buttons on the front of the base.

The battery compartment is, by far, the trickiest part of using this toy. You have to push it down, turn slightly to the left and pull the base out after you've turned it. If you have long or fake nails, be careful getting this off because it's really easy to break a nail doing this. After you insert the batteries, line up the two little nubs on the inside, push down really hard and turn to the right. If you don't turn the base all the way, it won't power on.



The control panel is really simple to use. The power button is the top button and the function button is on the bottom, so it's ergonomically designed for ease of use. The buttons themselves are easy to click, but not easy to accidentally click and change the setting.



They're backlit by a red LED light that intensifies with the steady vibration settings and flashes in the same pattern that functions 4-7 vibrate in. It's not bright or distracting in the least.



Push the power button to turn it on and to cycle through the settings, push the function button. It only has 7 settings, so if you go past the last setting, you'll find yourself back at the beginning. Hit the power button when you're finished to turn it off.

Functions:

1. Steady vibration, low speed. (2 vrooms, 1 bee)
2. Steady vibration, medium speed. (3 vrooms, 1 bee)
3. Steady vibration, high speed. (4 vrooms, 1 bee)
4. Escalating, low to high speeds. (From 2-3 vrooms, 1 bee)
5. Pulsating, low speed, short & fast pulses. (2 vrooms, 1 bee)
6. Pulsating, medium speed, fast pulses. (3 vrooms, 1 bee)
7. Pulsating, high speed, short & fast pulses. (3 vrooms, 1 bee)

Overall, Elation has a nice range of low to moderate speeds with virtually no sound. I could barely hear it when held at arms length and it absolutely cannot be heard through a closed door unless it's touching something other than your body. It has nice, deep vibrations that are not rumbly or buzzy in the slightest.

Vibrations can only be felt in the tip of the toy so it doesn't leave your fingers numb with extended use.

Elation is waterproof and can be taken into the shower or bathtub. As long as the battery compartment is completely sealed, water can't get inside and there's no risk of damage to the inside.

Elation is really simple to care for. Wash it with an anti-bacterial soap and hot water or wipe it clean with a toy cleaner or isopropyl alcohol wipe. It's waterproof, but I don't recommend boiling it or tossing it in the dishwasher since water will damage the inside. Let it air dry or wipe it down with a lint-free towel and store in a cool, dry place away from other toys to prevent their colors from bleeding into the material.

Silicone is only compatible with water-based lubricants, so steer clear of oil and silicone-based lubes to keep this toy in tip-top shape for as long as possible.

Elation comes packaged in a gorgeous white and pink box with 'Vibe Therapy' written along the right side of the front and a small picture of the toy and 'Elation' across the bottom. There's a larger, drawn-on image of the toy on one side and the back details the features, control panel buttons and vibration programs.

The front flap is held closed by a magnet in the side panel (which is truly very neat). Open the flap to reveal the toy on the left and a short paragraph on the right. It says, "A chic waterproof personal vibe to soothe away all your stress with its therapeutic range of vibrating and pulsating functions, that are designed to increase intensity according to your mood. Made of 100% medical grade silicone, it's hygienically friendly to your body and ergonomically designed to fit perfectly in your hand so you can truly experience vibe therapy."

The package itself would be a great gift for someone looking for a new vibrator and it makes for great storage, too. I keep Elation in the box just to keep it separate from other toys. If you don't care to keep the box, everything is recyclable so toss out accordingly.

There are two sets of instructions included for care and maintenance and the website is listed on the outside of the box for further product information.

I fell in love with the packaging as soon as I saw it, which is a weird thing to say about a vibrator box. I knew something special was inside though, that's why it's such a pretty box. After my initial struggle with the battery compartment, I fired this baby up. When I realized how quiet it is, I was amazed. I ran through the cycles while my boyfriend was in the room and he didn't even look over or acknowledge that there was a noise happening. It's just so quiet!

Using it was really easy. I seem to always buy vibrators that have the power button beneath the function button and this one was one of the first that I can recall using without accidentally turning it off. That right there puts it in the win category for me.
