Imported direct from the shores of Lilliput!

For about 20 bucks you too can buy a rechargeable Lilliputian sex toy!
This tiny thing looks like something you'd buy for your Barbie to massage Ken's aching back with (or another female doll's back if that's your thing) but it certainly isn't small when it comes to power.
Overall, despite it's flaws it's still a worthwhile purchase.

Use

It's an itty bitty wand style massager, so I suppose it could be used for pin point massaging on any area of the body (in fact I got it initially intending on trying it out a time or two for the review and keeping it in my purse to combat tension headaches). But its best use is as a clitoral stimulator. It could be used pretty much anywhere that it doesn't have to be inserted (ex: nipples, labia, perineum, penis, and testicles) as long as you keep in mind the rubber (at least I think it's rubber, the packaging was in Japanese) cover on the head of it is porous and can't be shared with anyone other than a fluid bonded partner, or used near the anus then other parts without a condom.

This cute little thing would obviously work best for the ladies, but if you're a man and you happen to like vibrations on your body parts then by all means give the Fairy Baby a go.
It's strong for its small size but don't go expecting a tiny clone of the Hitachi, if you expect that sort of power from it you will most likely be disappointed.

Material / Texture

While the cover on the head of the Fairy Baby is velvety to the touch, firm, and rubber-like (I don't read Japanese so it could be PVC but I'm guessing rubber even though it had no taste or smell that I could pick up), the rest of the toy is a hard plastic on the exterior. The rubber-like cover can be easily removed with a little effort but I prefer to keep it on so I don't have to clean the screws underneath with a cotton swab.
Being able to remove the rubber-like cover does have a nice advantage though, it makes it so much easier to clean the cover.
The texture of the cover is smooth and rounded with little horizontal ridges going all around the sides that I find add a bit of extra stimulation if you're in the mood for it.
You will want to use a drop of lube with the Fairy Baby unless you're already nice and wet. I've found the material of the cover tends to tug at the skin in an uncomfortable way when you're using it without any lube (natural or otherwise).

Design / Shape / Size

The design is one that doesn't scream "sex toy" to most people so you could easily leave it lying out somewhere without getting any funny looks from people that happen to visit. From the top of the head to the very end where you'd put the little keyring it's just about 2.75 inches long and at the widest point and roughly 2.5 inches in circumference.
If you're worried about someone knowing what it is then you're in luck, it's so darn tiny you could hide it pretty much anywhere you could imagine!
Traveling with the Fairy Baby is easy as can be, just slip it in whatever you're carrying at the moment and go. It does have a few tiny metal bits inside so I can't say if it could get through an airport scanner or not.
The charging cable plugs into a USB port (or a USB to outlet adapter, which is what I usually use to charge it) and is about 25 inches long. The bad news is, if you lose the charging cable you're pretty much screwed since it doesn't look like a standard plug in type. If it were something like a mini USB plug you could probably go buy a cable for it at Radio Shack, so be sure to keep track of the cable.

It's easy to tell when it's all done charging because there's a red LED light in the USB end, I usually check it from time to time by taking it off the charger and seeing if there's a difference in the brightness of the light. When you can't tell a difference between the level of light without the toy on the charger and with it on the charger it's fully charged. (again, not 100% sure, but I'm pretty certain that's the best way to tell)
    • Whimsical / artistic
    • Discreet look/design

Functions / Performance / Controls

Well, the vibrations from the Fairy Baby are felt strongly throughout pretty much the whole massager, but feel like they're more concentrated at the head. The vibrations going through the body of the toy might make your hand a little numb, but I haven't had this problem myself yet.
I wish it had more than one speed, yes, but the one speed it does have is pretty powerful for a toy of this size so it works.
The power switch has little grooves in it to make sliding it into position easier but they can collect fluids so it's a bit of a pain to clean.

The power switch is easy enough to use and with only one setting there's no complicated buttons to memorize like there are on more complicated toys. If you happen to get caught in the act so to speak, you don't need to cycle through functions or take out batteries to shut it off immediately so that's a decent feature.

If you love your cute little Fairy Baby you'll want to be really, really careful not to get it wet. The part where you plug the charger in is uncovered and with the way the whole back of it can just come off it can (and most likely will) die forever if it gets too wet.

Now about the noise level, I found if you don't put the cute phone strap keyring thing on, it's a lot quieter but it is still around the same as an electric toothbrush. The noise level goes down quite a bit in use to about the level of a cell phone on vibrate mode.
I'm alright with the noise it makes considering I own louder toys anyway. It's a buzzy sort of sound but not so loud or annoying that it bothers me.

The issue with the back coming off could be solved easily with a few tiny droplets of super glue, if the way it just pops off during use bothers you.

Care and Maintenance

With its porous cover but plastic body it's both easy and hard to clean.
The cover I wash in warm water with some antibacterial soap and dab dry with a piece of paper towel, but the grooves in the cover, neck, and on/off switch need to be cleaned thoroughly since fluids can get stuck in them.
I like to use an old toothbrush to really get them clean, but since you can't wash the body of this toy in water it's fine to use rubbing alcohol wipes or one of the antibacterial toy cleaning sprays.
As long as it doesn't get wet inside it should be fine.
Because I'm unsure of the material on the cover I'd say maybe try a spot test on the inside of the cover if you want to use silicone lubes, just to be on the safe side.
The great thing about the Fairy Baby being so tiny is that you don't need a whole lot of room to store it.
Heck, even just a little snack sized plastic baggie will do, I usually put mine in a baggie and put the baggie into my toy bag.
    • Easy to store
    • Hard to clean

Packaging

The plastic clamshell package this comes in is small and simple, with just a basic paper insert (which is, almost entirely, in Japanese and is rather pretty). I often wonder what it says and if it's informative, but I can't really be bothered trying to translate it.
The package is one of those neat easy open ones which is a great idea, after all who really wants to fumble with scissors to open up their toys when there's valuable toy testing time on the line?

I'd say if you wanted (and don't know people fluent in Japanese) you could even give this item straight in the package as a gift.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Would make a nice gift

This toy is so cute. I would probably keep it for tension headaches as well. I just couldn't see myself using it on my lady bits for some reason.

I was kind of sleepy when I published this and forgot the info on how to tell when it's done charging (sorry about that guys), I just added it to the Design/Shape/Size section though.
