Key to G-spotting?

Key Ceres G-Spot is a great toy if you're looking for something solely for g-spot stimulation and find moderate vibrations to be good enough for you. However, if you need some power behind the toys you use, this just isn't there. The shape is wonderful, it's high quality, but the lacking power makes it a disappointment; especially when you consider the price and claim of being a powerful toy.

Use

Key Ceres G-spot by Jopen is a vibrator obviously designed with your g-spot in mind. The slightly curved shape and larger head makes it a great option for targeting a woman's most sensitive internal places.

On top of vaginal insertion, it can also be used for clitoral play. Though the head covers a large area and you don't get pin-point vibrations, it still feels pleasant. External stimulation around the outside of the vagina and anus is also okay, but anal insertion isn't recommended since there's no flared base preventing the toy from slipping inside of you. No one wants an embarrassing trip to the ER with a vibe in their butt!

Though this toy is designed with females in mind, it can also be used on males. This vibrator can stimulate the testicles, perineum, and shaft of the penis. On top of that, it can also be used to relieve sore muscles; though it's not the most powerful toy to get the latter accomplished.

This is great for solo play and mutual masturbation, but you can also have a partner use it on you. Though the toy has some slight give to it, you still want to be careful that thrusting doesn't get too vigorous and ends up causing you discomfort. Nipple play and teasing of the more sensitive areas of the body are also options for this toy.

Key Ceres G-spot is a pretty medium sized toy. Beginners might feel that the end is too large, and size queens might wish it was slightly bigger. I think it falls nicely in the middle where most people would appreciate the size unless they're not used to penetration or prefer small toys in general.

Since this toy is waterproof, your play doesn't have to be limited to the bedroom (or living room, kitchen, closet...), it can be taken into the tub or shower without worry, and also helps set your mind at ease when it comes to clean up. On top of that, it's also very quiet which means there shouldn't be an issue if you have roommates or require toys that are quiet.

Material / Texture

Key Ceres G-spot is made out of three different materials; silicone, plastic, and stainless alloy.

The silicone is the main part of the toy, the area that will come in contact with your body most. It rates a 10/10 on the Eden material safety scale for its anti-bacterial properties, being made from food-grade material, and for being hypo-allergenic, latex free, phthalates free, and non-porous.

The silicone on this toy is buttery smooth and barely has any drag to it, even without using lubricant, and has a matte look to it. This vibe is almost entirely without texture, but does have two small ripples along the top of the 'shaft', and one around the very tip of the toy. While this does pick up some lint, it's far less than a lot of silicone toys. The velvety smooth surface isn't sticky or tacky, which is another reason why things don't cling to it as much.

The toy isn't very flexible and the silicone doesn't have much give to it. The only area that really seems to bend is just after the head. No amount of squeezing the toy showed any impressions, it's fairly solid. Keep this in mind when thrusting, since it could cause discomfort. This is also something to keep in mind if you prefer smaller toys. Since this doesn't have any give to it, it might be too much for some users.

The battery compartment and cap are made from plastic which rates an 8/10 on the material safety scale, and boasts many of the same safety features as the silicone. It's made from food-grade material, is hypo-allergenic, latex free, phthalates free, and non-porous.

The plastic obviously has no give to it, but is nice and smooth to the touch. The surface is shiny and very glass-like and feels very durable. On the top of the cap is the stainless alloy power button. There shouldn't be any allergy concerns for that material, but should you be overly sensitive to metals, this part of the toy shouldn't be touching your skin much other than to press to change functions.

Upon opening the box, there was no offensive odor; only the faintest 'new' smell to it.
    • Not porous at all
    • Smooth

Design / Shape / Size

Key Ceres G-spot comes in three great colors; lavender, blue, and the one I'm reviewing; raspberry.

The coloring an all the toys is a nice matte on the silicone area, and a glassy finish on the battery cap. The plastic is slightly darker in color than the rest of the toy, but is a great contrast.

The design of this toy is especially nice for those that prefer g-spot stimulation. The bulbous head and thinner shaft make the focus go directly to your sweet spot since it also lacks a large amount of texture. Though the head is larger, it didn't catch on my pubic bone, nor did it create a popping sensation. These are things that will vary depending on anatomy, and will either be a positive or negative depending on the fit of the toy.

The size isn't overwhelming if you're used to penetration, but new toy users might find it uncomfortable or even difficult to insert. Since the tip of the toy is so rounded, and is the largest point, insertion can be difficult if not lubricated. A good water based lube should help with that issue, but for those that need something smaller, this might not be the best choice in general.

Though this toy isn't huge, it's still a little awkward if you plan on traveling with it and there are much better options around Eden for a compact, travel vibe. It would fit in a larger purse, a back pack, suitcase, etc. but takes up a fair amount of room. The look of it makes it quite obvious that it's a sex toy; I'm not sure you could get away with calling this one a back massager if someone were to find it.

It's not a light weight toy, but it's not heavy either. Prolonged use shouldn't result in a tired arm or anything like that, but it's hefty enough that it feels solid and good quality.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Key Ceres G-spot requires 2 AA batteries in order to be powered on. The cap comes off easily and even has a small image imprinted in the plastic near the opening that show you how to insert the batteries. Inside the battery compartment there's a plastic sleeve that goes around the batteries that prevent them from rattling around inside the vibe while in use. It states right on the plastic that's it's a noise proof tube and should not be discarded.

There is only one button on the whole toy and it powers the toy on, changes function, and turns the toy off. It says 'Key' on it and has a very small skeleton key design on top of it. There are seven different patterns that each press of the button will bring you to, but you have to hold the button down in order to turn the toy off; that's the only way to turn the toy off. No matter what setting you were on when the toy is powered off, you'll always start at the first pattern when you turn the toy back on, it doesn't hold your place. The button is very sensitive and turns on very easily, it's important to make sure to remove your batteries after use to ensure that the toy doesn't accidentally turn on unexpectedly.

Though this vibrator claims that it's powerful, it really falls short in that department. Power queens will be highly disappointed, but the power behind it should work fine for those that are more sensitive to moderate vibrations. The good thing, the vibrations are more on the rumbly side than buzzy, so that does help make up for some of the lack of power.

The vibrations are strongly focused on the end of the toy, but do travel along the shaft. While in use, you can feel the vibrations in the battery cap, but they aren't powerful enough to make your fingers tingle, even after prolonged use.

The patterns are as follows:

The patterns are all at the same intensity level; you can't make the power go higher or lower with each setting. The intensity ranges from 3 vrooms to 4 vrooms, but mostly remains at the 3 vroom point.

The button is located in a nice spot that makes changing patterns very easy, especially since the button is so sensitive. This is also a negative since the button can be fairly easily pressed while in use, though it is slightly impressed in the cap and accidentally changing while thrusting isn't as likely; if your thumb or fingers hover over the button, it could pose a problem.

The sound level is very reasonable. It's not the most quiet toy I own, but it's not going to wake the neighbors either. The sound could be heard through the covers, but not through a closed door, making it a fine choice if you're living with a roommate and need your toys to be on the quieter side of things.

Because there's a thin ring around the base of the battery cap, this toy is also waterproof. Taking it into the shower or tub shouldn't be an issue and it helps to make cleaning a breeze!

Care and Maintenance

Caring for your vibrator is easy! This toy can be washed with warm water and antibacterial soap, your favorite sex toy cleaner, or can be fully sterilized by wiping down with a 10% bleach solution. The product page mentions that you can clean this in your dishwasher, but the fact that this is a battery operated toy would turn me off to that idea.

It's always a good idea to clean your toy before and after each use, and fully sterilize if you plan on sharing with a partner. Make sure that the batteries are removed and your toy is dry before storing it.

Silicone is only compatible with water based lubricant. Any other type might ruin the finish of your toy.

As always, keep this and all your silicone toys away from each other since they don't play well together. Jopen has provided a pouch along with this toy that makes it great for storage, so there's no concerns about material compatibility as long as you use the pouch or something similar.

The storage pouch is silky on the outside, but the material is quite stiff. It closes with draw strings and fits the toy with a little room left over, but is quite perfect. On the outside of the pouch there's a small tag that has 'Key' on it as well as the small key logo.

Packaging

Unlike the Jopen toys from the Vanity line, the box this toy comes in feels very luxurious. It's not at all discreet, having an image of the toy on both the front and back of the box as well as a lot of information on the packaging that would give away what it contains. That being said, it is very tasteful and would make a beautiful gift for someone you're close with.

The box is made from a thin cardboard material and has a colored sleeve that covers 3/4 of the black box. On the front it says "Hello, Gorgeous..." (how did they know!) and the sides give all kinds of information about the toy in four different languages. The back of the box is in English and tells of the features, mentions the quality, and has the websites to both Jopen and a site dedicated to the Key line specifically. The whole package is covered in a thin layer of plastic when you first receive it.

When the sleeve is removed, it reveals the rest of the black box. The back of this box has some information on it as well, but not as much as the outer sleeve. The box that houses the vibrator has nothing that keeps it totally closed when the sleeve is removed. Inside the toy is cradled inside a piece of firm foam that prevents the toy from moving around inside the box.

When the toy is removed, there's a small ribbon at the top of the foam that allows you to lift it up and get to the paperwork and pouch that's included. The paperwork has a lot of information about how to insert the batteries, care for the toy, and warranty information.

The packaging can be saved if you would prefer to use it for storage, but isn't necessary since it comes with a storage pouch.

Personal comments

My largest complaint about this toy is the battery compartment. Jopen decided to add a plastic sleeve for around the batteries to prevent them from rattling around in the toy. On the two items I received, that meant the batteries would go in hard and take me literally hours to remove. After experiencing blood, sweat, and nearly tears; they finally came out. I would recommend replacing the plastic piece with a piece of paper the same size. The sound level isn't effected, and the batteries are much easier removed. Win-win if you ask me. I'm not sure why they didn't just do that in the first place, but that's okay. Additional information on my experience and that of others, along with what Al Bloom from Jopen has to say about this issue can be found here.

Experience

I was so excited when I saw that the new Key items were going to be available here at Eden! I instantly grabbed two of the larger vibrators to try out. Having never had a g-spot orgasm, I'm always looking for something that might get me there. The shape of this toy paired with the great things I've heard about Jopen, I figured that this one might be just what I needed.

While the box proudly states, "The KEY G Massager is as powerful as it is beautiful.", it simply does not live up to that statement. Beautiful? Yes. Powerful? It is not. I was highly disappointed in the power behind this toy. The shape is great, it felt awesome as I rubbed side to side rather than thrusting, but the lack of power would never be enough to even get me close to thinking something would come from it.

Trying it on my clitoris was a better experience for me, but it's just too large to use it like that, and lacks the pin-point stimulation that I look for in clitoral toys. It probably would have been enough to make me climax, but it would have taken a lot of work on my part, and wasn't worth it to me.
Follow-up commentary
Key Ceres G-spot was just not the right toy for my anatomy. While the silicone is lovely, the shape didn't work well for me and the power was seriously lacking. I still think that this is a fine choice for someone who does well with moderate vibrations, but it just wasn't enough for this power queen.
